Re: 2017 Expectations
Fans are understandably nervous about uncertainty - e.g., who's going to replace the departing starters? What if our freshmen aren't ready? But there are two sides to that coin - some of those freshmen are going to be really good and enhance this program.
I'm looking forward to seeing these young guys challenge the veterans for playing time, especially at DB, WR, OL and DL. We've been recruiting bigger, faster athletes than we've had in the past. Doesn't mean they'll all pan out, but the ones who do may have a higher ceiling than we've seen before.
By my count, we appear to have redshirted all but two or three freshmen this year. That's going to be a huge influx of talent that's had a year in our program. And that's before you even count the incoming class, which is on track to be possibly our highest-ranked one yet. Not to mention guys from the '14 and '15 classes who've been waiting for their turn.
In other words, to quote Satt in the postgame presser Saturday:
"What's great about this is, in our program right now, we've got a lot of great players coming back. Our defense is going to be outstanding next year. We've got our running back, we've got our quarterback, all our receivers are coming back except Jaquil - we're going to be really good again next year. This right here's going to snowball into recruiting; we've already got a great class committed right now, if we can hang on to them. We've gotta get a few more that will come to us in February... It's going to continue to snowball."

We have to be considered very attractive at this point to more conferences. USA has sucked as a conference, but they do have better bowls, as obviously does AAC.

Yeah, we'd make it to the islands but it'd be hard to leave the beach and the Mai Tai's to actually attend the game...MtnDevil95 wrote:If the Bahamas Bowl featured an App St. v. I'd say APP won't be offered any Wake game plans or plays before the 2017 matchupah59396 wrote:Because it's never too early to prognosticate...right!?!?!
Our OOC schedule is:
@Georgia
Savannah State
Wake
@UMASS
Plus our regular Sunbelt tilt.
Given our record these past two seasons, we are slowly building a pedigree of success and notoriety as a "good" G5 Program. We should roll into 2017 better "ranked" (outside the top 25, but you catch my drift) than coming into this year. 2017 is our chance to take the next step.
We MUST beat a P5 team if we intend to make a push for an Access Bowl slot. Realistically we have maybe 1 or 2 winning seasons left before Satt gets an offer he can't refuse. Now is the chance to capitalize. An undefeated Sunbelt run is a necessity to be considered for the Access Bowl. We could potentially afford a loss to Georgia if we won out from there.
Undefeated would all but guarantee it.
So, what say you?

Re: 2017 Expectations
Excellent! With 2 Camillia Bowl Championships and the Sun Belt Conference Championship recruits should be a little easier to land, especially with our tradition and rabid fan base. Winning begats winning...I can't wait till next year.EastHallApp wrote:Fans are understandably nervous about uncertainty - e.g., who's going to replace the departing starters? Re: 2017 Expectations
The guys stepping into starting roles will have higher ceilings than the seniors departing. When you have guys like Vic Johnson, Duck, Moore, and Evans playing well, you can't help but be curious as to the talent that has been redshirted. Looking at the recent recruiting classes and how the 3 stars App began getting in 2014 are performing now, I expect the redhsirted guys will step in.
App is a reload program, not a rebuild. That is what a lot of people are missing about App that have no affiliation with the school. They expect a drop off because "it happens to everyone". The only thing that could derail the App train is coaching changes.
