He has done an excellent job, we just don’t know if it translates into being a good HC. Houston is a proven commodity at HC.Apple@chin1 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 25, 2018 12:56 pmIf Satt does leave, which seems to be a strong possibility, why don’t I hear Bryan Brown’s name thrown around as an obvious replacement? Yeah, but....
Herm Edwards
Les Miles
Jon Gruden
It’s in style to go to the guys that have been away from the game...
Go Mack Brown and Gene Chizk as DC is what is most rumored....

Totally. I just think that they are mostly bad hires (though I think Miles at Kansas is a homerun).HighlandsApp wrote: ↑Sun Nov 25, 2018 1:15 pmYeah, but....

I have a hard time seeing Brown recruiting 17 year olds effectively, due to his age and time away from the game. Does he even know what social media is?

He might as well try Bear Bryant and Knute Rockne while he's at it.

Re: Coaching change at UNCCheat
I think it’s because most of the whole staff would probably go w/ Coach Satt? And Coach Brown would be the new DC at UNC, for instance...It’s next level for the staff money wise and stepping stone wise within the perceived assistant and coordinator career ladder...Internal pressure by the staff (who do not share the same loyalties as Satt) to move on may be as big a driver on Satts decision as his personal desire to stay or go.Apple@chin1 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 25, 2018 12:56 pmIf Satt does leave, which seems to be a strong possibility, why don’t I hear Bryan Brown’s name thrown around as an obvious replacement? Re: Coaching change at UNCCheat
I really believe a lot of APP success is due to the system in place, the system started under JM and continued under Satt...the system that takes walk-ons, 1,2 and 3 star recruits and gets them to play well above themselves. I say this in full recognition of Satts outstanding coaching ability, but I truly believe if he leaves for UNC or any other job and we hire someone who understands and willing to continue the APP system our program will be just fine.

Damn hope he'll leave Peoples. Woods stripped our roster years ago for South Carolina.

I’m assuming Lame Kiffen isn’t getting a promotion go a P5 team any time soon.

UNC needs Lane Kiffin. A vain school with a sense of self-importance needs a football coach with an inflated ego and stuck-out chest. A perfect match. I would enjoy pulling against both.

The immediate impact whether he stays or goes is on recruiting. Be assured our commits are following this and the competition is playing it up. I am having a bit of a Sparky Woods flashback, and it’s none too pleasant. We were on the cusp of our best ever back then , as I feel we are today. Scott will do what he thinks best and years from now he will know if it was the right decision, whether it is the job or something else.If he goes we will have plenty of candidates to choose from ,and we have a list , or a plan if I’m DG.

Lane should have plenty of time on his hands since he is free from any bowl commitments this year after getting beat by Charlotte yesterday. Heh heh.

Kiffin is a brilliant offensive mind with the arrogance to fit in at Chapel Hole, best name I've heard so far. He's has a good resume at some top places for him to be the front runner.hotrod2001 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 25, 2018 2:08 pmI’m assuming Lame Kiffen isn’t getting a promotion go a P5 team any time soon.

Re: Coaching change at UNCCheat
This is a rhetorical question, right?
Satt has done a great job at App, and no doubt it holds a special place in his heart.
However, he does not get where he is today without being really competitive in his soul, and App cannot be where he thinks he will end his career. I see no incremental advantage in staying at App. Does going 13-0 next year get him better offers than where he is today? I doubt it.
Even if Satt does not get an offer, or the right offer, and chooses to stay, App is going to face pressure from other schools looking to hire his staff. This could put Satt's ability to continue winning in jeopardy, which might mean offers like UNC CHeat will not be there for him later. Additionally, ECU and Charlotte are presumably going to hire better coaches, and in theory, will better compete with App for recruits, again making it more difficult for Satt to maintain his level of success there.
All of this is speculation, and Satt will not have all the answers either, so he is going to have to roll the dice and decide if he can get the next step he wants now.
I honestly hope Satt stays for another year. I suspect Charlotte, ECU and APP will all be in the same general range pay wise, all will value coaches with recruiting ties in the Southeast, and all will be contacting some of the same people, so I want to go first. Plus, Satt seems like a good guy, but I would have to root for him to get caught with hookers and goats if he goes to Chapel Hill.
