Re: Satt Deal
Not sure if anyone has said this but wouldn’t a new coach MAYBE bring in some of HIS own guys? People are worried to death about coaches leaving but few mention that new ones are probably coming in as well.

Yes. We still have our culture, he can't take that. We have been successful before Satt, and we will without him. I don't hate the guy for living out his dream. I wish him luck, but now that he is gone, I don't really care about him. Take who you need and who is willing to go, if they leave than they wanted to leave. Let's get reset, see who the faithful are, and start moving into our new chapter. Sheesh, let the guy live his dream.JMappfan5 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 04, 2018 7:10 pmWhat the hell were y'all expecting? Every Coach takes people he trusts and can work closely with to produce a winner. Some of you need to take off your App blinders and let's move forward together. We will be fine. May lose a few recruits and some players may transfer (but probably not to Louisville). But in the end APP NATION WILL RISE!!!

Re: Satt Deal
I watched the entire press conference. Satterfield was very clear to say he's NOT pursuing any of App's commitments nor anyone who is currently a target. What he did say was that he would revisit recruits who were targeted early and then began to get P5 offers. Those are the ones he's going to try and rekindle the relationships with now that he's at a P5 program.mgsouth wrote: ↑Tue Dec 04, 2018 8:15 pmStaff aside, Satterfield should be good enough to begin turning Louisville into a winner without touching our current players or recruits. I know he is going to take some staff with him but if He tries to lure players to come with him then that adds up to trying to gut our program like a fish all so he can make things easier on him. If he does that then all his press conference declarations of love and appreciation for APP and the team and fans are nothing but crap.

I guess this is the way it goes in this business. Satt did a lot for App but don’t forget what we have done for him. It’s a shame he takes the money and runs two days after the last game and can’t wait two more weeks before he announced he is taking coaches too?

We need to be in a better conference. Being good in the Sun Belt or C-USA is just going to make us a glorified P5 talent pool.

Re: Satt Deal
You think he has control over something like that? Would you turn down a power 5 coaching job and a 3 million dollar raise over the New Orleans Bowl? I wouldn’t.yikas1 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 04, 2018 10:07 pmI guess this is the way it goes in this business. Satt did a lot for App but don’t forget what we have done for him. I'm sure our coaches on staff will call our commits to try and keep them. I fully expect Satt to try to poach several of our commits. We have to prevent Satt from taking as many as we can!asu7 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 04, 2018 8:11 pmIf he takes Brown and Ivey after the bowl then we may have a down year next year. I was thinking if we could get by losing Satt and keeping the defense in tact we might be okay. However now I am starting to get a little concerned and especially since he is calling our commits.

Re: Satt Deal
Nope he does not and I'm not mad at him for that. In a perfect world they wait but that is not how it goes. They don't have a bowl so they are 100% focused on recruiting. We have a bowl to get ready for and I know many don't want to hear this but Scott will likely try to flip as many of our recruits that he can. We have to prevent Satterfield from hurting the 2019 App State recruiting class and keep these guys. It is his job so I'm not mad at him for it anymore than I am any other school who is trying to steal them. I just know Louisville will now try to steal more from us than anyone else right now.ah59396 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 04, 2018 10:19 pmYou think he has control over something like that? It is good someone mentions that App did a lot for Scott. He was an invited walk on that worked hard and was given a shot to play at App. He met his wife at App and spent most of his coaching career there. He got his first HC gig at App. People seem to talk about what all he did for us but we did a lot for him as well. Both sides helped out each other.

Re: Satt Deal
You are 100% right. We are in the worst league in FBS right now. Until we get in the AAC it is more likely to happen. That would help us at least make it tougher to lose coaches and commits.hotrod2001 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 04, 2018 10:17 pmWe need to be in a better conference. Re: Satt Deal
AppStFn1, you sure seem to have all the answers to all the questions and all the issues for a guy who's only had an account for 36 hours.
Before you continue to pop off with your half informed takes on all things Satterfield, Appalachian and finances, why don't you do your homework and realize most of the information you're spewing as fact, isn't.

Re: Satt Deal
Have any of you looked at the faces of the kids and Beth? They don't want to be there. She smiled genuinely when he mentioned when they met and their time at App as athletes. To Beth, I am sorry you have to go through that. I know your heart is in Boone 100% even though Scott says he has seen his dream come true of being at Louisville.Boone Goon wrote: ↑Tue Dec 04, 2018 10:25 pm

I won't be looking at anymore Louisville or Satt stuff now. Seeing that makes me mad and shows me we now have to get in AAC, increase revenue, and keep other teams from poaching us so easily. I hope Gillin is mad at that as well and is as committed as I hope the rest of us are in preventing this from happening every 2-3 years.

So now you're a mind-reader?? How old are you? Do you not know what its like to be a teenager? Or to sit in front of 100 people and listen to your dad talk?? Come on. Give your keyboard a break!AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 04, 2018 10:34 pmI'm just now watching this. Have any of you looked at the faces of the kids and Beth? They don't want to be there. They won't be happy going through 3-9 or 4-8 seasons. Not winning early on will cause a miserable feeling.Boone Goon wrote: ↑Tue Dec 04, 2018 10:25 pm

As I said before, I think Scott can do a fine job for them but this is a bad union. UofL has expectations that are too high, the family really wants to be in Boone, and he is going to find that money does not always buy happiness. He is about to face a pressure that he did not feel in Boone. I don't blame him for this but like I said, he will look back and wish he did not do this.

Zero reason to expect this, yet people keep posting it as a hypothetical. I guess just to have something else to be mad about?GreatAppSt wrote: ↑Tue Dec 04, 2018 9:37 pmIt will be interesting is the freshly dismissed by Satt, Stephon Brown pops up at UL?

Re: Satt Deal
I'm sure he'll bring several of our coaches with him. That is not "gutting" our program. Good grief.
To those who think he's going to try and take our whole recruiting class - you do realize our class would be considered bottom of the barrel by ACC standards, right? Sure some of them will turn out better than projected, but part of the reason you go somewhere like Louisville is to recruit better talent. I wouldn't be surprised to see him poach one or two, but we'll lose more than that to P5s whether it's Louisville or somebody else.
Threads like this are why so many of us tried to level-set expectations whenever people would post the "Satt's not all about money, he's going to be like his mentor Jerry" stuff. Because the backlash was so predictable. When people let themselves believe stuff like that, they're setting themselves up to be angry and bitter when reality slaps them in the face.

Some people just can't handle change. It was not just Satt's decision for S Brown to leave App.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Tue Dec 04, 2018 10:46 pmZero reason to expect this, yet people keep posting it as a hypothetical.
