Wow. Your posts reek of arrogance. I hope your significant others don’t fall short of your standards.TheAppalachianState wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2019 4:05 pmYou know, I didn’t really want to talk about other schools, but Minnesota is a great example of what I meant when I started this thread. PJ Fleck does an amazing job with marketing where he goes, using his “Row the Boat” motto and definitely attributing swag on and off the field. You just get that “feeling” sometimes when you see someone like that and doing those things, which by the way he’s done that since his first game.
In hindsight, this thread probably should’ve waited a few days so people could come in and talk about the same thing a few more times until they’re blue in the face. But my eyes are now on 2020 already, now that we closed our 2019 season.
In any case, I’ll wait for more threads similar to my train of thought to start appearing as I’m sure there will be those that want to start working on the next step on what we can do as fans and those in the Yosef Club to push our brand nationally.

Yeah, and that’s fine, I didn’t mean for that piece to be the focal point of my conversation, I just personally am not used to it when watching App.Tbatchelor1977 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2019 4:11 pmDabo Swinney. Sweatshirt (little oversized) baseball cap...hope he gets that "Head Coach Feel"....
I hope Coach Clark is successful. Letting DJ Smith lead the App St Party Chant in the locker room is all class. He knows DJ is leaving and could have let a coach that will remain lead the locker room. Specifically mentioned him in post game PR. That is class and feels like Head Coach Feel to me
But I mean, this is supposed to be a conversation on building our school that we are all fans of, and pushing our brand, ideas, thoughts. And yes, it does also apply to Shawn Clark. Clark is a great coach, let’s talk about marketing, not him coaching...

So a coach wearing a sweatshirt and spitting sunflower seed shells in the sideline does irreparable damage to our national recognition...got it.
News flash, a coach doesn’t have to wear a polo on the sidelines to be effective, not does doing so make the school look bad. Just because you want to see it doesn’t make it so.

Drinkwitz looked like an accountant. Maybe he dressed nicer, but still didn’t look like a football guy to me.
He was also good at marketing (mostly diet dew) But he didn’t really give a damn about Appalachian, and left as soon as he could.
Clark has more passion for App in his little finger than Drink did in his entire body at any point on his brief tenure here.
He might not be the polished, silver tongued catch phrase generator that drink was, but he understands App’s culture and knows what it takes for App to be successful and that passion he has (which Drink was ironically lacking) will win more hearts of players and ballgames long term than Drink would have.

Re: That “Head Coach feel”
Perhaps you could elaborate about how what our coach wears and that he spits seeds(I've reviewed the tape and that's what he's doing) on the sidelines will negatively affect our national brand. Maybe I'm simple but the hoodie and cap are pretty cool and badass to me. At least the sleeves aren't cut off a la Bill Belichick.TheAppalachianState wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2019 12:53 amYou can obviously tell Shawn Clark is popular with the players.
But, not gonna lie, little weird seeing the HC in a hoodie, baseball cap, and spitting that much.
To me, the HC job isn’t important just for playcalling, but making the University look good, cool, and badass. I hope to feel like Clark is moving towards that, time shall tell.
For now, great win, great finish, let’s enjoy the rest of the bowl season and then get ready for 2020!

Again, this is a dumb complaining game post over nothing. And if you don’t agree with the original post you have no idea what you are talking about according to them.
Most Every Major League Baseball manager spits seeds during games and on tv. Aaron Boone practically does it in interviews. Who cares!!!!!

Re: That “Head Coach feel”
Why is thread post revolving around just the spitting? I make one comment about it and every trailer park boy comes out to cry about it... I tried to turn it more towards the actual point of the thread, which is App states market presence and maybe get some ideas going for 2020. Which heavily involves the HC for creating excitement for players, future recruits, etc...
This is my last comment lol, it’s like talking about to the insufferably bad side of a fan base, good lord

This is a dumb thread. I’ll be skipping it from here on out. There’s no point in arguing with someone who can’t clearly make an argument of their own and instead immediately goes to insults when someone disagrees with them.

I believe you need to retake your classes that covered debate and reasoning skills and pay more attention. Or you could just call people names, and take your ball and go home. You seem to be good at that.TheAppalachianState wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2019 5:12 pmWhy is thread post revolving around just the spitting? Dude, I gave a personal opinion about it, no need to throw a fit because I made an opinion on 1 thing that wasn’t even the main point of the thread lolBeauFoster wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2019 5:13 pmFYI, not a boomer by any stretch. Did you watch Shawn Clark’s post game presser by any chance? Real class. You should check it out if you know where to find them. He wore a 3/4” app pullover, hat, and didn’t spit! You will prolly approve! Maybe?

Re: That “Head Coach feel”
Why is a poster's age such a big thing to you? "These Boomer's" are the ones that developed many of our traditions and donate a good bit to Yosef Club. They have seen a lot of App State football and have carried the torch through thick and thin. Being divisive isn't working in Congress and it sure as hell isn't needed here. If you didn't intend to make the hat and hoodie a central part of your complaining, then you need a little seasoning on how to get your true message across, because self proclaimed marketing genius that you are, you failed miserably at that.TheAppalachianState wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2019 5:05 pmThese boomers are on patrol today.
