If they have satisfied their degree requirements, then they have to find some sort of path to remain a student. They can’t stay and play without some sort of class structure.booneboy92 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 25, 2020 8:12 pmI’m dumb to this stuff, but I don’t think eligibility and scholarships are one in the same. It would be a matter of making the cut wouldn’t it? I’m not saying I know this, but seems sensible... somebody in the know please clarify... Then again, what is sensible nowadays?!

I realize that, but under the NCAA rule, are the schools obligated to give them a spot and extend their scholarship?AppSt94 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 25, 2020 8:19 pmIf they have satisfied their degree requirements, then they have to find some sort of path to remain a student. Re: What happened to our offense?
The Seniors have every right to stay and play but I would expect to lose some of the underclass to the transfer portal and possibly some recruits. There will be unintended consequences. It was a good gesture from the NCAA but not very well thought out. It's really put a lot of programs in a tough spot.

Re: What happened to our offense?
The short answer is No. The scholarship is only good for one year but is renewable each year. As stated above, to not at least extend them all is bad form and can bite you in the public relations arse. But I can tell you that the cost incurred for this is weighing heavily on the administration.booneboy92 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 25, 2020 8:24 pmI realize that, but under the NCAA rule, are the schools obligated to give them a spot and extend their scholarship?AppSt94 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 25, 2020 8:19 pmIf they have satisfied their degree requirements, then they have to find some sort of path to remain a student. Re: What happened to our offense?
I wish I could appropriately answer the original question in this thread but I really struggle to come up with a good answer. Our evolution from the spread to our current offense seemed to be a slow moving one but I think that was really because we kept scoring at high rates that most didn't realize that we were no longer using spread principle. Now, everyone seem to know this. While I understand that tv views are not the best, in this year it is all I have to work with. There are plenty of times when our entire 11 on offense is lined up within the tv screen on a close view. Our offense plays in a proverbial phone booth which makes it that much more difficult when opposing defense stack the box. I will watch game and literally be able to count 20 of the total players within the screen shot when we are on offense. I am not saying that this type of offense can't be successful as we have all seen what Satt and Drink were able to do with versions of it, but it isn't being used as efficiently as either of those coaches used it. I wasn't thrilled with our OC hire and I haven't been pleased with the offense this year at all. I look forward and hope that soon we will once again have an offensive identity and be pleased with the execution and results.

Just curious but if the underclassmen decide to transfer because our seniors stay, where are they going to go? It isn’t like this scenario is only going to play out at App.goapps93 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 25, 2020 8:42 pmThe Seniors have every right to stay and play but I would expect to lose some of the underclass to the transfer portal and possibly some recruits. There was a player that got carted off last week. I want to think it was Williams had his ankle rolled up on then they carted him off. Any update on his status for game? Didn’t look to good on replay.

Wasn't it Virgil? He's been a bit gimpy all season I believe.mountaineerman wrote: ↑Sat Nov 28, 2020 7:56 amThere was a player that got carted off last week. Re: What happened to our offense?
I thought about that, too, as I posted. If the situation is better for that position somewhere else then a player who has been on the fence could be driven to make that decision when they wouldn't have normally. But you're right, there still may not be much opportunity elsewhere either.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 28, 2020 6:21 amJust curious but if the underclassmen decide to transfer because our seniors stay, where are they going to go? Yes, it was Virgil. He re-injured his already injured ankle. He's a game time decision.Rick83 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 28, 2020 7:59 amWasn't it Virgil? Re: What happened to our offense?
Maybe Drink did not change the basics of our offense last year. However, I just watched their first drive against Vandy. Read option running. Utilized TE in middle of field. Redshirt freshman QB. Baldwin may transfer from App St. I do not believe Mizzou will be his destination.
Also, hopefully the female place kicker for Vandy gets game action
