Re: UNC QB preview?
There is no case to be made that Mack is a good recruiter, salesman and good coach while at Texas. He was a great recruiter, great salesman while at UNC the first time and is a great recruiter and salesman this time at UNC. Look at his recruiting classes in both instances. In terms of X's and O's that can be debated in terms of level. He eventually became a good coach at UNC and Texas if you base that on the records...and yes, recruiting helps with Wins/Losses. However, you have to be a good coach to get to that many wins. He had 3 10 win seasons while at UNC (more known as a BBall school) and had 8 or 10 above 10 win seasons at Texas until the wheels came off. You do not win a national championship without being a good coach. Whether you like him or not or the Heels or not, it seems his record shows he is a good coach. Just my IMO.

You guys are correct that your opinions are just as valid as mine - One thing that Rek mentioned that is not entirely an opinion and that is that Mack looks tired and sometimes lost on the sideline - that's why I asked the question about him being back next season

Were you at the UNC hoop ball game in Holmes the other year? If you were, you would disagree with your own post.

Re: UNC QB preview?
Mack had a great team at Texas the year they won the NC - and yes, I give him credit for that but he has had several very talented teams and I guess you remember he never even won an ACC championship at UNC - still hasn't

Well, I guess I better go ahead and make plans to be there for sure now, if only to keep a closet UNC fan out of a seat

I find it a little comical (not surprising though) that we actually have a thread discussing who the UNC QB will be NEXT year.

Re: UNC QB preview?
I started this thread because I find it interesting to speculate on whether we're going to face a veteran first round NFL draft pick QB, Sam Howell...OR a new QB starting in what will be a hostile environment in Boone. As far as our QB, I would assume it will hinge completely on whether Chase comes back.

Re: UNC QB preview?
He took over a near dumpster fire football program at a basketball school. How many ACC football championships has UNCackalina won in the interim.
They've only won 7 conference championships since 1888 according to a Yahoo Search (yes, daze and Beau), I don't use google-gaggle- goggle)
Not being nasty, WVAPPeer, it's just that I happen to admire e Mack and what he started at App but have very little love for our flagship university.
It really stuck in Tarheel fans' craw when they practically ran him off from Chapel Hill (claimed Mack wanted too much of Dean's basketball generated revenue) but then he won an NC at Texas which arguably has achieved more in football than UNC has in hoops.

I know very little to nothing about what might be in Brice's plans, but would wager a dollar to a donut he won't be back.

Re: UNC QB preview?
I gave him full credit for Texas - but if he is so great a coach then explain how he never won an ACC championship? - remember he started 2-20 and he did get it turned around but he wasn't recruiting for New Mexico Barbers College - but one of the top institutions (at that time). Hell, Wake Forest, Duke, Ga Tech have won ACC championships since UNC -NewApp wrote: ↑Sun Nov 21, 2021 7:31 pm
