That's a trip I'm really looking forward to us making next September. The team of my childhood vs. the Black & Gold. It's going to be tough. Butch is putting together another top 5-10 recruiting class, but so far they can't seem to get over the hump, though maybe this past weekend's win over UGA will get them headed in the right direction. Hopefully, when we visit Neyland they'll be over-looking us in preparation for "The Biggest Football Game Ever" up vs. VT up at BMS the next Saturday.MtnDevil95 wrote:A drive over the mountains to Knoxville would be awesome as well. On a national scale, I'd personally love to see some top tier G5 teams land on the schedule.

Re: Future Schedule
The first five years of scheduling as we transition to the FBS should get an B+ or A-, other than a couple of FCS filler games due to teams backing out what more do some of you want?
Go look at GS and GA St.'s first five year FBS schedules.
Winning more isn't going to make scheduling easier either, especially for home games vs. P5 schools.

Re: Future Schedule
Depending on the P5 level of relevence, you're right. Programs like Michigan St. or Alabama may be more likely to schedule a highly successful G5 looking for another quality win on their CFP resume. Middle to low P5 teams, not so much in attempt to avoid a loss to a G5.Saint3333 wrote: Winning more isn't going to make scheduling easier either, especially for home games vs. P5 schools.
As for home games, it will take a significant amount of sustained winning and, more importantly, national recognition to overcome the stadium capacity. One of the main reasons ECU can schedule VaTech home & home because there's only 15,000 seat difference between Lane Stadium (65,000) and Dowdy-Ficklen (50,000). For capacity alone Duke and Wake will be relatively easier sells for home & home than EZU, Moo-U and the CHeaters.

Re: Future Schedule
I agree except for possibly the last point. T-Dog has mentioned a couple times how ESPN is involved in scheduling. If we win more and gain some measure of prominence outside the Sun Belt, we'll be a more attractive TV option and we might be able to get some made-for-TV OOC games. At least that's my hope.Saint3333 wrote:The first five years of scheduling as we transition to the FBS should get an B+ or A-, other than a couple of FCS filler games due to teams backing out what more do some of you want?

I might be wrong, but I think that's more important for scheduling than stadium size.

We're a long way from winning of that nature (that would take sustained winning of 4-5 seasons, minimum).
