Okay, good logic and I agree Montgomery would be best attendance no question. I still would not like being passed over but if it happens I agree in the end it may be best for reasons other than the actual game and opponent we would face. In reality Montgomery is the highest likelihood of my family actually being able to go. N.O. would be less but still a strong maybe, Mobile just a maybe.

If we are passed over under those circumstances it will render the experience meaningless and in no way a reward for a great season. Think about it we could be 6-6 and still get the same bowl bid if there are only three SB qualifiers. Are you okay with that? No way am okay with that situation. That would mean that money trumps the product on the field so that makes this just another game. Hell we could create our own bowl and invite a 5 win to Boone. Let me tell you and this tirade is not directed at you, if this was an NC game and actually meant something everyone on this board would be there regardless of the date. We should be highly offended if we do not get Mobile if we finish with 10 wins.

But we aren't being passed over. There's no "2nd place Sun Belt goes to XYZ bowl" tie in for the conference. There is no slight, no being shuffled about. None. The bowls that have tie ins to the Belt choose who they feel will make the greatest economic impact to their game.
You are correct and I understand how it works. You have to admit that there is more prestige in playing the MAC champion than a middle of the pack MAC team. So that is the only point I am making. I agree it makes no difference though. It's not about who is best in our case and that is where my logic falls apart. So in my mind a Sun Belt championship is the real prize here.

I will attend, where ever we end up. I would prefer not to play on the 23rd but it that the way it is I'll still attend. Luckily my wife understands my obsession with the Apps....doesn't love it but understands.

I actually don't think it makes much difference this year. The best team in the MAC is 9-2 Toledo and they aren't even in the title game. Who knows, they could wind up being the opponent in Montgomery. Or maybe it will be the loser of the MAC title game, which frankly doesn't make much difference in prestige from the winner, IMO.

You could even argue that we're better off playing one of the other teams because we'll have a better shot of winning.
