Re: Oline and QB are real problems
I think losing Meadors hurt us more than it would appear. If for no other reason he was a guy with speed to get open deep and attracted attention leaving others open. Lamb had no time most of the game and receivers were covered. He managed the game well especially at the end when we needed a winner to take over.

The 31 TD passes is an App State record as someone stated. Guess who's record he broke? The Godfather, AE. He was only 2 TD passes away from breaking the Sun Belt record. He will get that next year.

I liken Taylor Lamb to what Satterfield said about Marcus Cox, he's not real flashy (other than the occasional breakaway run) but before you know it he has racked up some pretty good statistics.

I realize this a a "fan forum" but you armchair quarterbacks are crazy if you think the players themselves don't read this stuff. See Malachi's tweet today about reading what his critics are saying. That would be fans on this forum. If you want to vent about individual players by name on this 11-2 team, do it with your neighbors...I want our boys knowing we support them 100%!

Re: Oline and QB are real problems
You are 100% correct. I know of two parents that read this all the time. One has a brother who will be playing for us next year and another just won MVP of the Camellia Bowl. I can continue on the past few years on players and parents, but I wont. Firemoose has stated a BILLION times about this. Believe me they "ALL" look and read.JGthatsme86 wrote:I realize this a a "fan forum" but you armchair quarterbacks are crazy if you think the players themselves don't read this stuff. Well if they are reading, then they should know this:
The vast majority of the App family are on your side, men, rooting with you through thick and thin as long as you do your best and stay humble. We appreciate what you do for our students, alumni and fans, and want to see you fulfill your potential on and off the field.

Re: Oline and QB are real problems
I get it but pretty much every school has football and basketball message boards. On every schools message board there will be both positive and negative comments made about players. As long as any negative point made is solely about the on-field performance I think that is perfectly fine, doesn't mean we all have to agree with it. There should be no personal shots taken, especially considering these are only college kids, and rarely have I myself seen any personal shots at the kids.
That being said, how can anyone hate on what TL has done the past season and a half. 17-2 as in his last 19 games. 31 TDS as a sophomore. I know he lacks arm strength but he makes it work most times. For those bellyachers: get used to it, he will be our starter for 2 more years and I couldn't be happier.

Lamb is the first QB since 2004 to start every game in a season I believe.

Re: Oline and QB are real problems
I absolutely think our QB problems were caused by our OL problem which was limited to LT. Watch the game again on ESPN3 and you'll see Shaq Counts get abused on virtually every single snap. I just can't help but laugh at our fans who think that we should have put J.P. in during the bowl game. It's not like Taylor Lamb didn't just lead our team to the most successful first season after transitioning from FCS that any team has had in history. Oh wait....

Shaq just want to let you know I appreciate the job you did in that game. You were part of a team that won a big one. Some suit up and go out and play the game. Some just jack their jaws on a board where it is nice and safe. You know which one you are buddy. Congratulations on your win.

Re: Oline and QB are real problems
There were several fans in section R calling for Satt to pull TL and insert JP. You could feel them starting to panic. I never lost faith in our team, we just needed the offense to put together a drive to build some confidence. The defense was playing lights out and this team just needed a spark to get back into the game. Forget the spark, our boys burned the 4th quarter down!!!

Re: Oline and QB are real problems
Agreed. The guy was a reserve guard who was forced to start at tackle because we didn't have anyone else to do it. How many times does that happen anywhere? Nice to see him be a part of a big win in his last game.bcoach wrote:Shaq just want to let you know I appreciate the job you did in that game. You were part of a team that won a big one. Re: Oline and QB are real problems
Well that didn't take long until another personal attack on a player --- some of us have tried for years to limit the personal attacks about play on the field - if a player does something stupid like start a fight or taunt an opponent and get penalized that is not under the umbrella of "play on the field" and so be it - but to say that about a player who has played for 4 years and played different positions is absolutely stupid !!! - Thanks to Shaq and Malachi and ALL OF THE SENIORS - YOU GUYS MADE THIS A VERY SPECIAL SEASON !!!TheMackAttack wrote:I absolutely think our QB problems were caused by our OL problem which was limited to LT. Re: Oline and QB are real problems
I dont think his intent was to call out Shaq.... I think it was to illustrate the issues that Lamb was facing, thus directed at those of us who complained about his performance.bcoach wrote:Shaq just want to let you know I appreciate the job you did in that game. Then why call him out specifically ???ASUTodd wrote:I dont think his intent was to call out Shaq.... Re: Oline and QB are real problems
Did he at any time say Shaq was a lazy slob who sucks and should be banned from the team? Lord no. He simply said he was getting beat every snap. If its the truth, its the truth. Shaq was playing where he wasnt used to and it was going to happen. There is an old saying, "the truth will set you free but first it will pi$$ you off". This "protect the little children of the world" campaign is getting out of hand.

Re: Oline and QB are real problems
He was noticeably banged up late in the third Saturday. I really thought he was gonna have to come out. And this was during the point of the game where he was really struggling to get anything going. Fans were getting restless and the frustrations were growing with every unsuccessful snap of the football. It would have been easy for Taylor to throw in the towel and put the burden on JP, but he continued to hang in there and refused to leave the game and he brought us back and led a drive I don't think any of us will ever forget about. Kid is only a sophomore. We're really damn lucky to have that kid.Saint3333 wrote:Lamb is the first QB since 2004 to start every game in a season I believe.

Re: Oline and QB are real problems
No what is out of hand is a bunch of spoiled brats on here who think they know everything. He called the man out and did it after a victory. Some of you guys just NEVER have enough. As far as little children instead of flapping your jaw on here why don't you grow a pair and go call him a little child to his face. The MAN did his best while you sat back and watched. I am flat out fed up with the attitude some on here have. The next damn day after a bowl victory the "experts" on here start with all the problems we have. Let me tell you what you have in this team. You have more that you deserve.ASUTodd wrote:Did he at any time say Shaq was a lazy slob who sucks and should be banned from the team? Lord no. He simply said he was getting beat every snap.
