Re: Premium seating opportunities...
Moving the field would still mean constructing a base for the new turf, not as simple as sliding a rug over in your living room. I think the ROI would be better with more club seats in the end zone.

This would take a long time to do and would be costly. At this point, I would be okay with horseshoeing in the hill and removing the track for the sake of grass. I think that would make our stadium look substantially better without redoing the entire east side.APPdiesel wrote:What he said. Just pull the east side lower deck metal bleachers and use the existing concrete as a foundation. Building right on top of it should allow us to match the slope of the upper deck and/or create symmetry with the west side.Saint3333 wrote:Move the field over to the west side and change the incline of the east stands to get it closer to the field and have steps up to the upper east deck similar to the west side configuration (with an elevator in the middle) so we can lose those eye sore ramps on the east side.
Digging is unnecessary. This option is much cheaper and easier. And would probably add 1,500-2,500 seats.

How so? I'm just talking about pouring a new concrete foundation on top of the existing concrete foundation (East side lower deck ONLY) and re-installing the metal bleachers. Can't imagine that would take that long or be more expensive than other ideas including digging downward. If you cover the track with turf we'll still have fans complaining they're too far from the field. And we'll still be having the same discussion 10 years from now.8993 wrote:This would take a long time to do and would be costly. Good point, Huskie, but who wants to sit in the endzone unless they have to?huskie3 wrote:Moving the field would still mean constructing a base for the new turf, not as simple as sliding a rug over in your living room. I think the ROI would be better with more club seats in the end zone.

IMOp, for esthetic reasons, leave the hill alone and horshoe in the North endzone. Howard's Knob would still be visible.Just a thought.8993 wrote:This would take a long time to do and would be costly. Have to keep the hill in place, it's part of who we are. I'd agree with moving it closer to the field though, with boxes and premium seating above. I'd also create a team entry way down the hill similar to Clemson. They do have a cool factor going for the pre-game.

I once saw a guy smuggle a pony keg onto the Hill. Passed it off as an oxygen tank on his wheel chair. Epic.

I remember in 2002, Joe Burchette was QB, wins were lean, and security doing widespread alcohol searches but somehow there were more mini bottles in the stands than fans by the 4th quarter.Gonzo wrote:I once saw a guy smuggle a pony keg onto the Hill. Anyone with half a brain can smuggle in airplane bottles without being detected.APPdiesel wrote:I remember in 2002, Joe Burchette was QB, wins were lean, and security doing widespread alcohol searches but somehow there were more mini bottles in the stands than fans by the 4th quarter.Gonzo wrote:I once saw a guy smuggle a pony keg onto the Hill.
