Re: Coastal discussion
Just got home. Sad about being a lower-middle SBC team and no bowl. Well that sucked and now my back hurts from the bleachers for some reason.

Re: Coastal discussion
Honest question.
Was anyone surprised when we lost? I wasn’t. Apathy setting in.
Apathy is a program killer.

Re: Coastal discussion
Ponce shouldn’t receive much criticism considering App is in the top 25 in the nation in yards per game and points per game. He is doing his job well with what he’s got.t4pizza wrote: ↑Tue Oct 10, 2023 11:38 pmAt some point, it all falls on the coach. If we can't win more than we lose for the rest of the season, I have no doubt that he will be gone. I do find it very interesting that Sloan has seemingly escaped any criticism this season. We all know that Clark doesn't call the defense, Sloan does and in the past couple of games his defense has been exposed. Where are all those voices clamoring for change like they did with Roof and Dale? There was also almost universal praise for Frank returning as our OC. Now, I have no clue who really calls the plays, but our red zone offense has not been good this year at all. That being said, we are playing a second string qb and our starting rb just got hurt and only had 1 carry in the game. As bad as we played, we still should have easily taken the lead with very little time left but instead we fumble. Not sure how a fumble, or dropped pass, or blown coverage, are on Clark. BUT, we can't keep this up and if we don't win at least 7 somehow this year, he needs to be gone. Until then I will support him and our team and hope we turn it around. I will say the crowd was great tonight and stayed until the end. Coming up from Florida for this loss is no fun, but the fans did their job despite what it may have sounded like on tv.
The defense is terrible. Sloan deserves some heat for the defense turning back into a pumpkin after starting the season looking a little better.

Re: Coastal discussion
2024 App State football is not App State
I see average to below average
I see conference teams laughing at us
No one is afraid of us but Chapel Hill, and they won't play us again
I see players out of position, fundamental mistakes over and over.
It's been a long 2 years.... I am tired
The good news is Hughes is kicking great

Re: Coastal discussion
It's still in front of us for now I guess. Working the night shift and still can't get this game off my mind. Dropped balls and fumble on offense hurt us in key situations but the blown coverage on defense soooo many times and the 1st quarter defense is a head scratcher. I want to cuss throw rocks and punch someone but that wouldn't fix it.WataugaMan wrote: ↑Wed Oct 11, 2023 2:34 am“Everything we want is in front of us”

I don't see a bowl in this post season. But "our goals are still in front of us."

Re: Coastal discussion
One post above said other SB teams lough at us. Spot on, we get flat out pushed around and bullied. It’s so strange to have a “ lunch pale” coach and have a team that gets bullied. We don’t have a mean streak at all. CCU’s backs physically kicked our ass!!!

They’re talented as hell and I’m grateful for their dedication, but if I hear one more marching band arrangement of Pinball Wizard, I may lose my marbles. I’d love to see our band do something totally out of the box.
Here’s a novel idea: have our marching band play some marching band music and stop the orchestra music .

Thanks, Todd. As rough as this loss is, I have work colleagues in Israel and their current reality is very different from ours.ASUTodd wrote: ↑Tue Oct 10, 2023 10:12 pmI love App State so much... and these losses really hurt.... but I have to try and put it all in perspective. My life is good and I'll appreciate what I have. Life could be a lot worse.

Re: Coastal discussion
Clark keeps only referencing the 2 explosive plays in the first quarter… if I heard the announcer right, coastal had 28 plays for over 20 yards… Twenty. Eight.

I agree completely with Todd and Bootsy, but that's what entertainment is for. To take us away from the harsh light of reality. When your chosen form of entertainment, sports, is more painful than pleasurable to watch, it just makes cold, cruel reality that much worse.BallantyneApp wrote: ↑Wed Oct 11, 2023 6:23 amAll true but I still like winning football games.Bootsy wrote: ↑Wed Oct 11, 2023 5:57 amThanks, Todd. I praise God that I was privileged enough to be born in America to a loving and financially stable family. I am completely blessed by my own family that I am raising. I also hope that Shawn Clark's family is blessed with $1 million on December 1st, and Clark takes his family on a really nice vacation for Christmas.

Re: Coastal discussion
I hear David Devine at Burns High in Lawndale is turning that program around in the right direction. He is an App guy (reserve on the 95 team) so he should probably be on the short list of candidates.

I’m currently done with this coaching staff. I don’t care if the person has never set foot inside the town of Boone. If they win football games I want them here and it ain’t what we have right now.
