While it's not nearly as much as student fees, Alabama students pay $15 for non-conference games and $20 for conference games ,,,,,,and they don't even get to slide down a hill.appgrad95&97 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 9:10 pmLook at the student athletics fees at SEC schools, they are either zero or very low.

QB going to UCLA, WR2 going to Indiana, WR1 with quick Michigan and Florida State offers, C to Tulane. Looking back 2024 is gonna be one hell of a wasted season.

What would it cost a fan to purchase season tickets to football, M&W basketball, baseball, wrestling and any other sport that charges for admission? That's what students get for their $816.bcoach wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 9:16 pmSo you think those kids and their parents should pay more than you do for your entertainment? Pray tell why elthey shouldn't have a fee that goes toward THEIR schools athletics??? I pay for tickets.... I buy apparel..... I even donate to Yosef (thanks Mike87)... So yes, outside of that why should we foot the whole bill? If that's your idea it is the STUPIDEST thing I have ever heard. I personally pay over $450 per seat (required YC donation plus ticket price) just for football. I imagine many of you pay a similar amount as these aren't premium seats. Baseball is showing $115 for this year. Not sure what the other sports cost.

Clever way to look at it. How much money could we get if we sold those seats behind the App bench to fans?JTApps1 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2025 8:23 pmWhat would it cost a fan to purchase season tickets to football, M&W basketball, baseball, wrestling and any other sport that charges for admission? I don’t think our offense was the problem and they were put in tough situations every single game.

Not trying to stir the pot and I am not in favor of moving the students or raising fees. But if we are removing student fees for athletics then those seats become open for discussion.goapps93 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2025 9:07 pmThere are already fans paying for those seats. Agreed, point was more so that talent like that is hard to come by and unfortunately it was spent on a 5-6 year.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2025 8:59 pmI don’t think our offense was the problem and they were put in tough situations every single game.

I didn’t say this before but you kind of implied that the students aren’t fans. I know that wasn’t your intent.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2025 9:09 pmNot trying to stir the pot and I am not in favor of moving the students or raising fees. Re: App Transfer Portal 2025 - OUT
I think it's going to get harder and harder to justify many student fees, especially athletic fees as things move forward. Somethings gotta give in the college financial world. These students pay almost more in fees in 4 years then I paid for tuition, room, meal plan, fees and book rental for 2 years. That's nuts.
I think a side affect of NIL, especially if it moves in house is athletic fees may go up more and people will start litigation(not necessarily at App but somewhere) saying that just by being a student they shouldn't have to support semi pro athletes. We have about 19k undergrads paying athletic fees, how many of them attend every home sporting event on campus? How many attend every home football game? I don't think the last ball has dropped in all this yet and it's going to get uglier. If it moves in house and state universities start finding ways to use tax money to pay athletes I hope they get sued into oblivion.
I do think this past season was a waste of talent. We had talent enough to win our conference, not playoff talent, but SBC winner talent. We needed coaches.
As far as the locations these guys are transferring to, I'll need to see where they land in the depth chart. I think Joey just saw a great way to move home, make a quick buck, attend a world class academic school for a year, and then sail on in life. I would have taken it too in his shoes.

UCLA also doesn’t have a QB. He has a chance to play. Great move for him, no matter what.appdaze wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2025 9:49 pmI think it's going to get harder and harder to justify many student fees, especially athletic fees as things move forward. What makes you think they have any desire to attend all those games/sports. We don't need to guess the proof is there at every game of every sport. There is just no argument to be made that it is fare to charge people for things they have no interest in. Those of us who enjoy a sport need to pay the cost of it.JTApps1 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2025 8:23 pmWhat would it cost a fan to purchase season tickets to football, M&W basketball, baseball, wrestling and any other sport that charges for admission? I always assumed the fee also covered intramural sports, there is heavy participation there.

If I don’t use a resource that those fees cover, can I get a refund?
