I'm not happy to see Wilson leaving the QB position but I certainly understand it. I'd much rather see him make this switch than to enter the portal so it's actually pretty refreshing. I'm guessing that, with his athleticism and understanding of offenses, he can be a significant contributor as a DB
Exactly. I posted a similar comment on X.
In today's football, it seems many kids would hit the portal. Hopefully, he becomes a dog at whatever secondary position he excels. Pulling for him more than ever.

Props to him for sticking around! Maybe he can lay the wood or get involved in special teams.
Probably not many opportunities for a 5th string QB in the portal anyway that has no tape in 2.5 years.

Interesting to see him moving to DB instead of RB. If he was a dual threat with his legs offensively, seems he would have stayed on that side of the ball. Will pull for him no matter what position he plays though.
Back in the day, Steve Wilks was a QB in high school and didn't play on the defensive side of the ball. When he arrived at App, he was a DB. I think Wilson saw an opportunity to play and maybe saw it as his best path for the future.

We have had many others do the very same thing and worked out well for several. Hope it works out here as well.

I'd say he was many people's daddy during playing days.

Indeed he was. Dexter was the best and he was an even better person than player. Dexter went to the NFL and had a better career than any other Mountaineer over the last 30+ years.

I only had interactions with him after games but it showed. No shock to hear he was good in the classroom as well. Dexter was the ultimate Mountaineer.

Saw him in the stands at the South Al game last year where we were embarrassed on national T.V. He looked like he could have still suited up and make a difference.

He probably would have been better than 9 of the 11 starters that day at his current age for sure.
