I think we're going to win every game. What's the point in being a fan if you don't believe? Did I know it wasn't likely? Sure, but I still believed. If we lined up with Miami again today, I'd still believe we are going to win. When I played sports, I never went into a game believing we were going to lose and I can't approach it any differently as a fan.ASUTodd wrote:Some of yall crack me up. When I posted, in another thread, that Miami was pissed about coming to Boone and there was no way Richt was going to lose this game; well......some of yall threw hate my way. I can also go back and search posts and find ones where some of you unrealistic fans thought we were going to win this game and finally "arrive" at the pinacle of the football world. For those that still think we are a powerhouse, wake up. We are a good team that has one hell of a coach and staff that makes us better than we are.

Re: We suck
Far ahead. We're already a media darling, we play on ESPN and we're already very competitive in our conference. I'm hurting as much as the next guy but we can easily break yesterday's loss down to a few things: tackling, penalties, overmatched outside and QB, and slow play calls on D. We can fix three of those by next week and the fourth won't be near the disadvantage the rest of the yearJTApps1 wrote:People easily forget that. Got our butt whipped. Gonna happen from time to time. Even FSU has a bad day.... Loved the crowd and the yellow pompoms were awesome. If we want to be viewed as more than a mid tier program we gotta bring that energy and crowd to every game

Re: We suck
Here are my thoughts:
1) As I said following the TN and ODU games, our secondary is our weakness. Kaaya more than exploited it.
2) Defense needs to be able to get their plays and get set no matter the other team's tempo.
3) I worry about Satts ability to make in-game adaptions to the game plan.
4) I haven't seen Taylor attempt a pass much over 8 yards in a long time. That is a glaring weakness for this team. We have to be able to throw.
5) If Taylor does throw it, we have to have competent WRs
6) Why is NDSU able to beat P5s with 65 schollys? The rose colored glasses need to come off and we need to look at what its going to take to get past the blow out/moral victory stage.
7) Atmosphere was great hate we got all dressed up to party but didn't have anything to celebrate.

Not nearly as bad as your game against Clemson last year. Y'all looked like a pee wee team.

Kindly take your smug and condescending 'BS' elsewhere. We know who we are and where we're going! What you think is completely inconsequential to us.westcoastcanes wrote:No reason to be down, this was never a serious matchup in the first place.

I heard about your post from folks over the weekend and I am just now reading it myself. You have only posted six times and now you spread this ? I know you can have an opinion but really? Blame the staff? We suck in the reference line? I am not really sure that you know what you are talking about.t-sin wrote:No offense no defense we suck.. hate to be this way but we had no effort out there today and I. Lame the coaching staff..... get your players ready for the biggest game ever at the rock. Huge disappointment
The team was ready they had a good game plan. The kids did not follow through, I watched the game again last night, we did not excute when we needed to.
Enjoy the board, this is a great site. But I would reconsider saying that we suck and blaming the coaching staff, it was one game not a season.

Re: We suck
I generally agree with your post except for the bolded portion. This team was not ready, especially on D. I won't speculate as to the cause, but I think it's obvious that they weren't.WVAppsfan wrote:I heard about your post from folks over the weekend and I am just now reading it myself. Re: We suck
We don't suck. That is an incredibly stupid title for this thread and it should be deleted. Aspects of our team sucked Saturday. Hell more than one program has been whipped this year. I'll say it again. Early season rankings are worthless!!! We more than likely didn't get beat by the 25th beat team in the country. We probably didn't get beat by the 15th best team in the country. Once the season is over and it all shakes out we will know how good our opponents were. Our secondary looked to be playing soft against ODU and maybe that's just our weak spot. We talk about the difference in athletes from team to team. I talked about how big some of our redshirt guys looked two weeks ago and a few guys echoed that sentiment. I agree with many of the realistic guys on this board. It's going to take a while to get us to another level. I personally am cool with us winning the SB, going 9-3 or 10-2 in a great year and winning a decent Bowl game. There are a ton of established programs who would kill to be App right now. I'm really disappointed by the outcome. Can't believe how many times we got torched for big plays and that is alarming. I have faith we will right the ship and will rock some teams this year.

Re: We suck
I didn't particularly care for the subject line either when I saw it. These boards are ok for venting, but I've personally found it helpful to wait 12-24 hours before posting in order to avoid knee jerk reactions toward players and coaches.
As for the game, yes, I was disappointed, but to win or even compete we needed an almost perfect game. When you give up a TD their first offensive play from scrimmage, and then have a long TD negated due to a penalty AND lose your star offensive player on the same play....it's not going to end well. No need to make it more than it was- a bad game against a good P5 team. It happens.
On the post game show, I think the announcers said it best- all the team goals are attainable and still in front of us. Winning the conference title and a bowl game will quickly remove the sting of this one.

Re: We suck
I'm very disappointed in the title and tone of this thread. It's okay to be disappointed and angry but our players and coaches deserve more respect from App fans. App had a very bad game against a very good team....it happens. The overall App program took a step forward on Saturday even in defeat and one bad game will not define this program. Buckle up for Akron which put a curb stomp on Marshall on the road.

Re: We suck
I remember a lot of similar posts after we lost to USA in our first year in the Sun Belt.
Do we have areas that we need to improve in? Yes. Do we still have work to do in growing the program? Yes. Do we need to figure out how to stop a hurry up offense? Absolutely.
Do we suck? Not at all.
