I would be ok with Ruff being on a list of candidates. Biggest mistake ECU ever made was letting him go.

Would Sloan be interested in coming back? What type of offense is Trey Elder running? He's a North Greenville and could be the next guy to bring in and groom for coaching at a high level.diehardapp18 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 28, 2018 8:16 pmNah, I'd rather have Brown over Woody. I feel like it may be a higher risk but a much higher reward. Apparently Brown is already on the radar for some big schools as a potential DC. He's becoming a prominent name quick.
Basically, give it to Brown.

Agree that Shawn's resume doesn't mean he isn't a good coach. He has a lot of obstacles and time will tell. Like I say, I like Shawn a lot, and have been a Shawn apologist several times on this board.
But I stick by the statement that his resume would make him a tough pill to swallow.

I would hope that ruff would get a call and a interview. He has coached here in the past and did well at EZU. And by all accounts he is an awesome person

Joe Gibbs will be our next coach. He wants to coach his grandchildren.

Re: Early: possible replacements?
I would love to see us get a young up and coming coach with a history of winning on the way up. Houston fits that bill, but how long will he wait to finalize a decision with UNCC. At that point I would think they would want to build their own staff. Would love to keep Iron Mike though. He has done an awesome job!

Who I hope the pool will include:
Successful FCS or possibly low G5 HCs
Successful G5 or P5 coordinators
Who I hope it won't include:
Sub-.500 HCs or career position coaches who are only mentioned because they happened to play here 20 or 30 years ago

Random name: Mike Yurcich, Oklahoma State OC. He has no familiarity with the state or the school, but he turns out some amazing offenses every year. Still only 43. He makes $800k year apparently, so we could compete.

Re: Early: possible replacements?
we aren't paying satterfield that in base salary. if he is making that much there, why would he come here as HC for the same or les? If we have more money to give, we should be giving it to Satterfield already.diehardapp18 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 29, 2018 2:39 pmRandom name: Mike Yurcich, Oklahoma State OC. I would hate to pay someone from outside more starting out than we are already paying Scott.

Re: Early: possible replacements?
Remembering reading this article about Yurcich when it came out last fall. Gundy went after him at DII Shippensberg and it has worked out pretty well for them.diehardapp18 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 29, 2018 2:39 pmRandom name: Mike Yurcich, Oklahoma State OC. As someone already mentioned though, I would hate to see us pay a P5 coordinator starting out more than we can offer Satt.
Re: Early: possible replacements?
I may reconsider my high regard for DG if we hire Minter. There are 3 future HC on our current staff at different levels IF the timing is right.
Go APPS!

Re: Early: possible replacements?
After giving it a lot of thought and i mean a LOT of thought, I have decided to pursue the head coaching position at my wonderful alma mater Appalachian State University. I have a deep background in football...played 4 years of highschool...never really coached, but over the last 4 years I have won 3 national titles and a godaddy.com bowl on NCAA 14 on the xbox 360 with difficulty set at the very highest. Recruiting wise, I struggle a bit...can never seem to nab more than a 2 star recruit. But, just know that I will make everyone here proud.

Re: Early: possible replacements?
I could be wrong but I think that with the base, hitting all of the various bonuses and incentives, and the Yosef Club appearances he could earn up to around a million for 2018. That includes bonuses for winning the Sun Belt East & Championship and winning the bowl plus academic goals for the players. It also increases some each year of the contract. The Rock wrote: ↑Thu Nov 29, 2018 3:34 pmwe aren't paying satterfield that in base salary. if he is making that much there, why would he come here as HC for the same or les? Re: Early: possible replacements?
This. With incentives he could make $800k a year here. Also OK ST had a bit of a down year. Gundy is still safe as safe gets, but a few more mediocre years and the debate could change. Yurcich could look at App’s loaded roster and realize that if he can reel off a pair of double digit win seasons he could land his own P5 jobRick83 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 29, 2018 4:04 pmI could be wrong but I think that with the base, hitting all of the various bonuses and incentives, and the Yosef Club appearances he could earn up to around a million for 2018.
