I wouldn’t want him back as HC. Not because I don’t appreciate what he did but because HC 2.0 doesn’t historically work out as well as it did the first time around.

Re: Putting the “L” in Louisville
I agree, as much as we love Satt for everything he has done to date, I don't see him coming back in any coaching capacity to App. I don't think that would be something he would want nor is it something the university should want (as noted HC 2.0 rarely works for anybody). The one scenario that could play out is WAY down the road as some AD/advisor role like we have seen at a few universities in the past. Even then, I think it is way too early and premature to envision what that may be but that is the only route I see any type of return.

I was thinking the same thing. If DG left at some point, that could be a path (if he wanted to come back and had the capabilities). I'm happy with Clark and DG leading our program and hope Satt finds success going forward.AtlAppMan wrote: ↑Tue Jan 04, 2022 12:14 pmI agree, as much as we love Satt for everything he has done to date, I don't see him coming back in any coaching capacity to App. I don't think that would be something he would want nor is it something the university should want (as noted HC 2.0 rarely works for anybody). When Doug leaves we will need to bring in an experienced and seasoned AD .

Re: Putting the “L” in Louisville
i wondered if this was the succession plan? Doug is too good for him to dodge some top openings forever.
I would prefer a national search but if Doug is handpicking his successor and giving a year or two of guidance that isn't bad either.

Re: Putting the “L” in Louisville
I’m not suggesting that he was handpicked anyone or if that is the plan. Doug loves it here and he makes a pretty good living. There may come a day that he is looking for a different challenge. I’m just saying that I’ve met Patrick and he seems to be really sharp as a #2. That’s all.BallantyneApp wrote: ↑Wed Jan 05, 2022 8:30 ami wondered if this was the succession plan?
