Honestly I think it might be a case of his numbers being shorted last year more than him gaining a full 30 lbs. As most know I was unable to attend games last year for medical reasons but I talked to many people that said he looked bigger than he was listed at. I have no doubt he did add some but I doubt it was 30 lbs. He also went from 6' 1" to 6' 2". As we've seen with this years listings mistakes can be made and I'm guessing but I'd say it was a combo of that and him adding some additional. I am asking some questions about several of these and will update as soon as I find out.
As a side note notice Darian Small. He was listed at 285 last year and 325 this year. That's a 40 lb increase of a player recovering from a serious knee injury. Same thing as Malachi, as many said he looked bigger than 285 last year. Again I think it's a combo of things but he's another I'm checking on.

Just as these two were listed too low it looks like several others were listed above their actual weights. Bronson and Burns come to mind. Neither one ever looked to be in the 275-280 range they were listed at, and now they are listed at 245 and 260 respectively. That seems much more accurate going by the eye test.

Agree JT. Bronson never looked as big as listed last year when he was playing NT. He played better after moving to end. Burns has probably lost some but again, he never really looked 280 last year. Still think there will be a few more updates as Bronson was first listed at 235 (I copied the roster to a Word doc to make it easier to work on and I still have the first draft numbers, as shown in my post) but moved to 245. Proof Reading and Fact Checking are your friends.

How about Tyson Fernandez? 245 pounds! That will clog up the middle for sure (even if he can only go for two plays at a time). Is he the second coming of Terrance Cody formerly of Alabama, currently with the Baltimore Ravens?

Didn't you put him on a 100 lb diet with your post?

Doubt he clogs much at 245.
I'm sure you meant 345.

I know you meant 345. And yes he's going to be a load in the middle. Nice to have him and Small (over 300 also) to command double teams. Gives us a lot more options for the on field D calls by the captain. Plus makes RB's trying the inside have to take a couple of extra steps to move around the Mountains in the Middle.

Yes I meant 345 excuse my error please. Can you imagine a 4th and goal from the one yard line for the other team? We could throw both of them in the middle for that and create quite a problem.

SS has said publicly that Fernandez needs to drop some weight. They don't want him at 345. I think that's even heavier than I'd heard he weighed.

Just two quick updates. Parker Collins is now listed at his correct size of 6' 3" 295 and Tyson Fernandez is now listed as DL instead of OL. I'll keep watching for corrections to the listing.

I'm hearing a rumor that formerly suspended DB - Alex Gray may be reinstated to the team. Anyone else hearing the same thing?

Another quick update. According to the roster on appstatesports we are now at 110. I went back to compare my list of 111 and Jr WR Trey Kavanaugh has been removed. For those who don't know he is Coach Moore's grandson. I follow him on twitter and he still shows App receiver in his bio and has not mentioned anything about leaving the team. We'll see in the next few days what happens. Also they are tweeting this morning that 105 are here for the start of camp today. Roster is a 110, as I said. Have some feelers out to see who is not here that's on the roster. From research all 10 of our recently added players (without numbers yet) are listed on appstate.edu so I'm checking to see which 5 from the total roster have not reported to camp yet. I'll update as soon as I know something.

AppStateSports.com says we have the "NCAA Maximum of 105" players in camp. More than likely I'm guessing there were a few walk-ons that are no longer on the team.

I believe the rule is the others can join the team the day classes begins ---

In fact the article that JT cites mentions that others can join when classes start August 19.
It appears that the first 8 practices are open to the public. Sadly, Media Day will only be made available over the air, no streaming as in the past. I guess we best adjust to less of that this season.
