Who said anything about "8" wins. We still have two more on our schedule.

And no, we are in. It looks unlikely the SB will have more than 4 eligible teams. Still possible ULL could make 6 wins but no way we get passed over even if they make it.MDaniels84 wrote:falcoapp wrote:Is it possible we don't even get a bowl invite with 8 wins? Re: Bowl Game
Can't see us losing either of our last 2. We are definitely the second best team in the conference this season. What a monster game today by our backs. Even though TL only threw a few passes he had great touch.

Re: Bowl Game
Our AD said in todays pregame show that the Conference Champ would be going to the New Orleans Bowl. Right now I assume that will be Arkansas State. Then Mobile, Montgomery and Orlando will pick in that order. Depending on our final record looks like we will be in Mobile or Montgomery to me.

Re: Bowl Game
Purely selfishly, I was really hoping Ark State would be a lock for the GoDaddy so we wouldn't have to worry about Mobile on 12/23 . . . for the program I know that's the better options as far as national exposure and higher caliber opponent.
I would be SHOCKED if an 8 win team got snubbed. I firmly believe App State will finish 10-2 or at worst 9-3 anyway.

Re: Bowl Game
We will NOT be snubbed. There are 80 bowl slots to fill this year and there will not be 80 bowl eligible teams.
All 6+ win teams must be placed before a bowl can take a 5 win team.

I agree but what was the situation last year when 7 win Texas State was passed over for a 6 win USA. I forgot the justification.AppDawg wrote:We will NOT be snubbed. There are 80 bowl slots to fill this year and there will not be 80 bowl eligible teams.

Re: RE: Re: Bowl Game
Last year there were 81 bowl eligible teams for just 76 slots. Thus, 5 stayed home. I believe this year there are 80 slots and only 70-something projected 6 win teams.appbio91 wrote:I agree but what was the situation last year when 7 win Texas State was passed over for a 6 win USA. Last year, Mobile passed texas state over to keep S Bama in state and conceivably generate more $$$. But when the supply of teams is greater than demand, the bowl game can make that call - right or wrong.

Re: Bowl Game
I've seen one bowl projection site that has ULL to the Independence Bowl (Shreveport on the 26th). Suggests that if we have 5 teams eligible, all will be Invited. Of course, projections are just that.

Re: Bowl Game
If we finish 10-2 we are looking at the Go Daddy bowl on the 23rd and I hear our fans cries for the Cure bowl in Orlando. The only way that happens is if we lose the next two. So my hypothetical question is would you rather finish 10-2 and 2nd in the SBC with the Mobile bowl or 8-4 and 3rd or 4th in the SBC and go to Orlando?
I want 10-2.

Re: Bowl Game
Folks, we are NOT going to be sitting home. Not only is it unlikely the Sun Belt has more than 4 eligible teams, it is also extremely unlikely that there are more than 80 total eligible teams.

This is a game I would like to see us in. Not only is it after Christmas, but the opponent would be from the SEC.MAD Doctor wrote:I've seen one bowl projection site that has ULL to the Independence Bowl (Shreveport on the 26th). Re: Bowl Game
I don't know if it's that cut and dried yet, but winning games is more important to me than bowl destination. I want 10-2 regardless of where we wind up bowling.Saint3333 wrote:If we finish 10-2 we are looking at the Go Daddy bowl on the 23rd and I hear our fans cries for the Cure bowl in Orlando. Re: Bowl Game
Mark Schlabach of ESPN has Appalachian State projected to participate in the Zaxby's Heart of Dallas Bowl on December 26 versus Southern Mississippi. What does the App Nation think of this?

Re: Bowl Game
I posted on another thread a what if that isn't too crazy. What if GA State knocks off South Alabama this week and then we beat South Alabama and LA LA (likely IMO)? LA LA also would have to beat Troy and New Mexico State to get to six wins and South Alabama would end up with just 5 wins. Not a stretch at all for this to happen. If so, the conference only finishes with 3 eligible teams. How would the bowl thing shake out?

Re: Bowl Game
Bigdaddy we'd be in the Go Daddy bowl.
Go Daddy gets second pick and tend to pick the best team, not closet team available.

Re: Bowl Game
IMO the only way we get the Cure bowl is if GS finishes ahead of App in the standings and the Go Daddy bowl selects them.EastHallApp wrote:I don't know if it's that cut and dried yet, but winning games is more important to me than bowl destination.
