I believe you're talking about All-American LB Pierre Banks. I think he's doing fine and will get better. It's a tough job.

Re: Color Announcer
After about 10 hours on the job, some anonymous person on a chat board determines that Banks isn't cutting it. Sheez. I'm certainly glad my bosses didn't determine my worth after the first 10 hours of my employment. I'm guessing that holds for the majority of us.
I've been pleasantly surprised/pleased at how good the new announcing crew is.

Re: Color Announcer
Banks was in on 3 tackles inside the 10 on a goal line stand in 2005 against FU and future pro bowler FB Jerome Felton, the same drive that Ingle Martin slipped, APP won and went on rolling on to National Championship #1.

Re: Color Announcer
Pierre has his Masters in Communication from App I thought. With that statement I am willing to bet good money he will turn into a great announcer.

Re: Color Announcer
I think that we may be comparing this crew to the best crew we have or for that matter the majority of programs have ever had. That is just not fair. No one will ever replace them. This crew will be different. It will be a few games or probably a season before we know how good they will be. My money says we will be ok.

Re: Color Announcer
They'll be fine. This crew, actually, is pretty darn good. I've had them on with the TV audio down. A bit green, but for a new crew, first year, pretty darn solid.

Re: Color Announcer
I don't think ANYONE could match David Jackson and Steve Brown - the best team I can remember any place - anywhere - That being said, I think these guys will be very good ---

Re: Color Announcer
He didn't provide much analysis. I want to know what an all american linebacker is thinking and what he sees from that perspective and experience. Most of what he provided is pretty obvious. I don't want or need a homer or a cheerleader. That's what made Brown so good.

Re: Color Announcer
I listened to the broadcast while watching the game (in the stands) this past Saturday and I was pleased with how the new teams did. Expecting Banks to match Brown right off the bat is probably not reasonable, but he did a good job. I imagine that he will settle in a little more and become more analytical once he gets more comfortable. No complaints here.

Didn't Pierre get both an Undergraduate AND a Masters all while playing football for us? I remember him always being awesome with my boys when they wanted to say hi or get an autograph! Awesome dude!

IMO there are too many cliche's being said, "well-coached" and "play hard". Just relax and as others have said, give inside perspective. He will be ok.

I agree with you, I probably was too rash or harsh in any case. He did a great job this week.APPARJ wrote:Pierre is die hard black and gold. Great personality. He will develop every week!WVAppsfan wrote:Is it me or is the color announcer for football not cutting it.
