Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. Believing that playing at Noon was part an ESPN conspiracy to ensure our defeat

, we should be relieved that we return to playing at 3:30 on Saturday.
Of course, I kid about the time of day making a difference in the outcome. However, it could be a wild one. Akron averages 33 points a game and gives up nearly 40.

I'm scared about this game. I think Akron has a really good shot to win this game.

Until we can prove we can throw and catch the football, I'm not going to be confident against anyone. Akron can throw the ball and GA St has an NFL caliber WR.
We may have underestimated how long it would take our young wideouts to grow into their talent at this level.

As evidence of the lack of a passing game, after three games we have 15 more passing yards than Ga Southern and the same number of passing TDs. A WR has yet to catch a TD pass.

We won't play like we have the last two weeks. Really, the second half of the ODU game.
I hope.

Not true. Letman caught a pass or at least that's who the announcer credited.

Lehman did not catch a TD pass.

I checked the ASN website and it does list the App-Akron game but it is "not available in my viewing area." Time to fire up the ROKU!

In looking a little bit at Akron, they destroyed VMI 47-24, lost to an average Wisconsin team 54-10, and destroyed an untested Marshall team 65-38.
They like to pass the ball and I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see a hurry up offense this weekend. The are a little undisciplined with 34 penalties in 3 games. Not sure about the Marshall game as Marshall outgained them in total yardage, but Marshall had 4 turnovers and 17 penalties for 180 yards (Marshall was their own worst enemy).
Seems to me that we will need to run the ball (and be able to throw) to control the clock. Our defense will need to find their manhood. We have to get pressure on the QB and stop the pass. Beyond fundamentals, for God's sake line up in a formation and be prepared for a hurry up offense. Don't give up big plays. Don't look like a deer in the headlight, hit and wrap up. Simple...

J. Moore will probably have to fill in for Cox, I believe he is more than able, no worries there. The passing game has to improve, we can not afford to be one dimensional, need to start opening up the play book.
Agree with your comments above, the defensive coaching staff has to do a better job preparing this week, communication was down right embarrassing.

If you aren't scared, you weren't paying attention on Saturday.

I mean I get what you're saying but I think some people don't realize just how big of a gap there is in talent between AppSt and Miami. I know you look at UM's W-L record over the past few years and think they're not that talented of a team but it's simply not true. It's a monumental gap. Golden couldn't get out of his own way down there. They have top 25 (and better) recruiting classes year in and year out and to put it nicely: we don't. I had a feeling some of us were a little too confident about our program heading into the UM game and the sky-falling attitude is reflecting as such. We're just fine.

I mentioned on another thread but want to say again. I think the fact that Miami jumped up to 10 spots in a major poll says a ton. I view that as nothing but respect to us. Same situation a few years ago and they might move a spot. Obviously a bunch of people think Miami is damned good.

And you can count me as one of those who think they are damned good, bringing in Richt was a game changer. Yeah we made a couple mental mistakes, take away those and it's what 38-14? At best? Just got beat by the much better team. On to Akron.

First, let's all acknowledge that Miami was the much better team. In 10 contests against them, we might win once. But, in fairness the game could have been closer (something that can be said about almost any game). To me, there were three plays that made the most significant difference in the outcome. The first was Miami's first play from scrimmage. A play where our defense is in perfect position to stuff the runner but a missed tackle leads to an 80 yard TD. The second significant play was the Cox TD nullified by the holding penalty. And finally, the long bomb they completed on third down in the possession right after we scored to make it 24-10. Reverse the results in those three plays and it could have been a closer game. But, Miami was able to stem the tide every time we tried to gain some momentum.
