Getting Ike Lewis back for the Conference slate will help. Good speed and a little more experienced WR may help our passing game! Hope Boyd is back for Akron.

What's up with these guys academically ineligible? That is like 3-4 starters that are out because of his. Never been a problem before

Possibly more emphasis put on academics - adhering to more demanding majors - not allowing players to sign up for "crip" courses, some seem to be suspensions for academics, so in previous years possibly these players were punished in other ways ??? - I don't know the answers just putting out possible reasons --- It certainly seems absolutely clear that Coach Satterfield will not put up with sub-standard academic process ---

Who are the 3-4 starters out for academics? The only one (starter) I'm aware of is Gibbs. Upshaw is not a starter and while his services would be helpful, was relegated to the third back last year.

Pretty sure Lewis was a shoe in wide receiver /slot and while upshaw wasn't a starter he was going to be a bruiser of a backup to cox and now with cox hurt would have probably seen significant time and gibbs .maybe starters wasn't the right word but these were all going to be big time contributors.I do like the no nonsense approach though.

Lewis' academic issues were during the last academic year but he had corrected them during spring and summer sessions. Word was he was dinged up a little in camp (might or might not be the case) but it appears they also added punishment for the past issues to start this year. Satt is not going to put up with issues in the classroom. But Lewis is eligible and has been for this semester or else he would be ruled out for the whole season. You can't be ineligible to start a semester and then become eligible. Not until the semester is over and grades are turned in.

Good, I want to see Darrynton Evans start. I understand what Moore has done in the past but Evans is easily the fastest running back I have seen at App that actually has the size to fight off defenders. If he gets a hole in this zone blocking scheme, he will be a one cut and go type of guy which is what will be needed moving forward.

Wonder if he will actually stay at RB long term given that he's only there now because of all the injuries.

Sorry but not sure it's a good thing that Marcus is hurt so Evan's might get to start. Obviously a less than 100% Cox should sit this one out. However, I would be surprised to see Evans start though I would think he gets plenty of snaps.

What position was Evans recruited for?

ATH. He played RB (plus some FS and ST) in HS but when we brought him in and saw what he could do we wanted him on the field. To start camp we were deep at RB so we moved him to the slot position and also as a KR to get him on the field. As soon as Boyd went down and Upshaw was ruled out we moved him to RB (he got reps there to finish camp with Boyd and Williams going down to injury). We'll see what happens when everyone gets back healthy. We lose Cox after this year but everyone else returns and word was Williams is the real deal as well. And we're only planning, as it stands right now, to take one RB in this class.

I didn't mean that it was a good thing he is hurt. Just good that if he is they are sitting him.

Quick note. Boyd was full for practice today. No green jersey. Still going to need some reps to get to game speed since he hasn't played this year but he'll get time barring any setback.

One other note from today. Marcus Williams was back out in a very limited fashion as well. He still has recovering to do but it's amazing for someone to be already in extended rehabbing and doing some work on what was reported to be a partially torn MCL in camp. Should bode well for his complete recovery. Great news. And we should be seeing a couple more of the Fr that were injured back at it as well. The quicker they can get back and the more scout team reps they can get the better prepared for next year they will be.

Do we have an actual status on Cox? I see lots of comments in the prediction thread about playing without him, but I haven't seen anything official. Are people making assumptions or is there some inside info circulating? Any chance he plays?

I completely agree. I'm just wondering if that has been determined yet. I'm just trying to understand if people assume he won't play or if they actually know something.
