Appalachian State will host Elon in Boone on Sept. 18, 2021. The Phoenix will receive a $300,000 guarantee for the game, according to a copy of the contract obtained by FBSchedules.com from App State via a public records request.luvyosef wrote:http://www.fbschedules.com/2016/10/appa ... elon-2021/
Do we have to pay most FCS teams this much? Seems like a lot.

Not happy about this. I'd rather play the public FCS schools of NC than ever play Elon again.

Re: Elon comes to the rock 9-18-2021
I am disappointed to see the fElons on our schedule as well. If we never play them again I would shed no tears, and not because I think they could possibly beat us. Still, I will reserve judgement as I am sure I don't fully comprehend the complexities of college football scheduling. I doubt we can afford WCU unless P5 money dries up for them. Beyond the kitties from cuttaweed, no public or private NC FCS school move my needle. Which NC FCS public programs move yours?T-Dog wrote:Not happy about this. Needle movers or not, (and for the record there are no FCS needle movers for me) they seem to be a necessity to consistently having 6 home games.CVAPP wrote:I am disappointed to see the fElons on our schedule as well. Just asking...why are some against facing FCS opponents?

I have not seen one post in this thread where anyone opposes the notion of scheduling an FCS opponent. It's about which ones./\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote:Just asking...why are some against facing FCS opponents?

Again, assuming scheduling complexities mean we don't get to be choosey when it comes to FCS opponents, the person that put the fElons back on our schedule must have not been around during their days in the SoCon.proasu89 wrote:Needle movers or not, (and for the record there are no FCS needle movers for me) they seem to be a necessity to consistently having 6 home games.CVAPP wrote:I am disappointed to see the fElons on our schedule as well. Re: Elon comes to the rock 9-18-2021
My apologies. Not in this thread, but this thread is still young. In previous threads I've seen people object to the idea of playing FCS as a whole. But you bring up another point. What's it matter who we play? I doubt a North Dakota State win versus a Savannah State win would mean much in the overall view of strength of schedule.CVAPP wrote:I have not seen one post in this thread where anyone opposes the notion of scheduling an FCS opponent. Personally, I like the FCS games matter who the opponent

I am not opposed to having an FCS opponent on our schedule and understand the necessity. I am opposed to Elon as an opponent on our schedule. I prefer ETSU and even GW to the Savannah States, but these are just backfill contests so I don't care. I would like to see WCU on our schedule if that can ever occur again. That would be a sizable gate./\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote:My apologies. Not in this thread, but this thread is still young. Hell would be frozen over before I would ever schedule the fElons to return to The Rock.

Re: Elon comes to the rock 9-18-2021
I think it's just a thing where you schedule at least one FCS team on your schedule. Gives you a game to work out the kinks and gives the school a payday. If I remember, we were supposed to have NC Central come up this year but we dropped them for the opportunity to host Miami. I don't mind it considering every other FBS school not named Notre Dame does it as well, so I see it as a level playing field.CVAPP wrote:Again, assuming scheduling complexities mean we don't get to be choosey when it comes to FCS opponents, the person that put the fElons back on our schedule must have not been around during their days in the SoCon.proasu89 wrote:Needle movers or not, (and for the record there are no FCS needle movers for me) they seem to be a necessity to consistently having 6 home games.CVAPP wrote:I am disappointed to see the fElons on our schedule as well. I am in favor of Furman coming to KBS. They are the only SoCon school that had a winning record against us in football.
