Would Satt go to

Watching Iowa State and OU. Has me thinking would Satt take a job (if available) at an Iowa State? Obviously the money would be good but would he leave for a P5 doormat?

I'd be more worried about NC State. If they finish flat again this year I could see DD gone. That job would pay much more than we could, be in a very winnable conference, and bring him closer to Orange county (maybe family is still there?). But I think that job only opens up if State finishes poorly this season.

I always have State in the second tier delusional group. They always think they should be better. I'm sure the Wolfpack club would clamor for a big name

If you mean Iowa State specifically, their coach is in his first year there so that job won't be coming open. If you are asking about that type of program generally, i.e., P5 doormats - who knows?

I think the goal for App has to be to make staying in Boone appealing enough that it will take something better than that to pull Satt away.

The rumblings around here in the Triangle is that if DD struggles coming down the stretch (already lost to BC) that the pack are going to throw a lot at Les Miles. I'm not sure that Miles would take the job, but he is on the short list should the headset in Raleigh come open at the end of the month.

Not sure I'd call being in a division with Clemson, FSU and Louisville "very winnable," especially for State.

Not necessarily Iowa State specifically. They just happen to be on TV. That team is never very good, takes lumps every year but is a big boy that pays big money. Same goes for Vanderbilt or Indiana.

I think that DD is safe until Debbie Yow retires. She is rumored to be retiring soon and wouldn't want to deal with the headaches that come along with hiring a coach for football.

Classic State, go after the biggest name only to be turned down.

Exactly. I recall a certain list of basketball coaches some years back. Wasn't Sid Lowe about the 5th choice?

It's the ACC. I don't put much stock in ANY team staying very good for long. That conference is vastly overrated. I think that this year Clemson & Louisville are the real deal but other than those 2....

Seriously how many coaches can NC State chew through? I still think it was a mistake for them to get rid of O'Brien.

For what it's worth I thought the same with Sendeck. Heck he took them to the tournament many years.

Unless we take better care of Satt financially, we'll lose him sooner rather than later. I'm sure most of you saw the recent article placing him near the bottom of the pack in salary (102)?, even low when compared to other SBC coaches. We can't help it if a really big time opportunity comes his way, but we need to at least be competitive in salary when it comes to most other G5 programs.

Les Miles isn't going to go to NC State. He and everyone else who follows sports knows that there is going to be one or two high profile teams who are going to be looking for a new HC and barring some major Petrino-esque scandal revelations will go there.

As for Satterfield, I hope and pray that coaching for his Alma Mater carries a lot of weight with it.

No way State has to $ to pay off Dave and get Les, Debbie Yow is one of, if not the worst AD in any P5 conference. If Sat is smart he's staying far from Raleigh.

Satt will go at some point. If it's this off-season, I'd walk down the hallway and tell Woody it's your team now.

I hope that seeing how far Georgia Southern has fallen with the loss of Willie Fritz might spur some of the more wealthy Mountaineer faithful to pony up more $$$ to try and hang on to Satt.

Though his salary is low, comparatively speaking, it is riddled with bonuses and increases down the road. I don't think we'd lose him to another G5. But if a P5 comes knocking... it would be hard for anyone to turn down that kind of money.

I could see him leaving for someplace like Wake Forest or Virginia, but not the Iowa States of the world. I think he'll stay in this general region for a dozen more years until his kids are grown. If he does leave, I'd guess that he would take Woody with him.

Coach Satt is too smart to fall for the trap that is NC State. Their fans have big visions of grandeur that more often than not never pan out. That's a very tough division with playing Clemson, FSU, and Louisville every year. That's an almost guaranteed 3 loses right there.
