Would Satt go to

Watching Iowa State and OU. Has me thinking would Satt take a job (if available) at an Iowa State? Obviously the money would be good but would he leave for a P5 doormat?

I always have State in the second tier delusional group. They always think they should be better. I'm sure the Wolfpack club would clamor for a big nameMountaineerMafia wrote:I'd be more worried about NC State. If they finish flat again this year I could see DD gone. That job would pay much more than we could, be in a very winnable conference, and bring him closer to Orange county (maybe family is still there?). But I think that job only opens up if State finishes poorly this season.
The rumblings around here in the Triangle is that if DD struggles coming down the stretch (already lost to BC) that the pack are going to throw a lot at Les Miles. I'm not sure that Miles would take the job, but he is on the short list should the headset in Raleigh come open at the end of the month.bigdaddyg wrote:I always have State in the second tier delusional group. Not sure I'd call being in a division with Clemson, FSU and Louisville "very winnable," especially for State.MountaineerMafia wrote:I'd be more worried about NC State. Not necessarily Iowa State specifically. They just happen to be on TV. That team is never very good, takes lumps every year but is a big boy that pays big money. Same goes for Vanderbilt or Indiana.EastHallApp wrote:If you mean Iowa State specifically, their coach is in his first year there so that job won't be coming open. If you are asking about that type of program generally, i.e., P5 doormats - who knows?
I think the goal for App has to be to make staying in Boone appealing enough that it will take something better than that to pull Satt away.
I think that DD is safe until Debbie Yow retires. She is rumored to be retiring soon and wouldn't want to deal with the headaches that come along with hiring a coach for football.MountaineerMafia wrote:I'd be more worried about NC State. Classic State, go after the biggest name only to be turned down.JonW wrote:The rumblings around here in the Triangle is that if DD struggles coming down the stretch (already lost to BC) that the pack are going to throw a lot at Les Miles. Exactly. I recall a certain list of basketball coaches some years back. Wasn't Sid Lowe about the 5th choice?Saint3333 wrote:Classic State, go after the biggest name only to be turned down.JonW wrote:The rumblings around here in the Triangle is that if DD struggles coming down the stretch (already lost to BC) that the pack are going to throw a lot at Les Miles. It's the ACC. I don't put much stock in ANY team staying very good for long. That conference is vastly overrated. I think that this year Clemson & Louisville are the real deal but other than those 2....EastHallApp wrote:Not sure I'd call being in a division with Clemson, FSU and Louisville "very winnable," especially for State.MountaineerMafia wrote:I'd be more worried about NC State. For what it's worth I thought the same with Sendeck. Heck he took them to the tournament many years.97grad wrote:Seriously how many coaches can NC State chew through? I still think it was a mistake for them to get rid of O'Brien.
Les Miles isn't going to go to NC State. He and everyone else who follows sports knows that there is going to be one or two high profile teams who are going to be looking for a new HC and barring some major Petrino-esque scandal revelations will go there.Saint3333 wrote:Classic State, go after the biggest name only to be turned down.JonW wrote:The rumblings around here in the Triangle is that if DD struggles coming down the stretch (already lost to BC) that the pack are going to throw a lot at Les Miles.
