Fire at Kidd Brewer?
Does anyone know where the fire happened yesterday at Kidd Brewer Stadium? I never saw the fire trucks but there must have been one. Everyone poured out of the stadium at halftime like the place was on fire. This is the best defense I have ever seen at App. The team is winning and is in contention for a conference championship. How do the "fans" show their appreciation, they pour out of the stadium like water through a sieve. I'm sure all of the prospects sitting a few sections from us noticed the 3/4 empty stadium in the 4th quarter. Also to the angry midget in 111 who keeps yelling about the offense and who's calling the plays; we scored 35 points yesterday. You wouldn't know that because you left at halftime too. True fans stay whether we win or lose. Rant over.

This conversation has gone on ad naseam. Obviously it's not an ideal situation but it's not App specific either. I'd be interested to see the effect pass-outs that allow you to re-enter the stadium would have on 2nd half attendance. Would also be interested to see if there is anything that can be done inside the stadium to keep folks in their seats.

Re: Fire at Kidd Brewer?
I don't like the halftime exodus either, but short of locking all exits, what are we gonna do?
As to the 4th quarter, I can sort of understand fans not wanting to be there when we are up by a comfortable margin and the offense has visibly shut down and we go into clock-sucking mode. It is pretty boring to watch. I stay until 0:00 because I like to see the 3rd stringers getting some playing time and because after driving 5 hours up there and 5 back on the same day, I'm watching the whole damn game, regardless. But I can understand if less rabid fans just lose interest and take off.
And its ok to have less rabid fans also, IMO. I'd much rather see the stadium full to start the game and gradually clear out than to start the game with only 12,000 in there.

If you don't like it then why bother replying, just ignore the topic. I personally think it's embarrassing to have an empty stadium in the 4th quarter. Next time I'll check with you before I start a topic to see if it's ok.EastHallApp wrote:Must we have a new thread on this after every game?

I don't like it, but I can understand why people leave. We are a run heavy team with a defense who is dominant. Casual fans want to see close games. I hate seeing it because for years I was proud to brag about our crowd. Even before the mass exodus, the crowd seems to be getting more and more wine and cheese type, minus the student section.
Aside from hosting beatable P5 teams, better G5 schools, in state FBS schools, I don't think much will change.

I don't appreciate the deceptive title. I would have not bothered opening this thread if it was properly titled. Now I am compelled to add my 2 cents. I suspect the fan nazis are ideologically aligned with those that are whining about the team having not played a complete game this season.

Re: Fire at Kidd Brewer?
I really don't think the quality of the game on the field has anything to do with the exodus. I think it's just a function of the stage of development we're in and the type of fans buying tickets. A certain number of students leave because they have social engagements and that's what they're there for...the social aspect. Some regular spectators leave simply because they aren't interested in being uncomfortable (weather issues) or sometimes there are valid conflicts. It's part of the deal as we develop and we are hardly unique in dealing with it.
I know it's frustrating (to me as well) but we make way too big a deal out of this issue.

Re: Fire at Kidd Brewer?
There were 28,000 fans for a game against Texas State. A few weeks ago people were complaining about attendance numbers not being like what they used to be. Every team in the country has fans that leave at halftime. Especially for a 3:30 start where halftime coincides perfectly with dinner time for most folks.

The only way it changes is when we are up 17-10 over Wake and there are 35,000 people losing their minds

I do think there is more the marketing department can do. I can think of a lot of ideas (and have sent documented suggestions to them) for further engagement and strategic objectives to retain fans throughout the game. (Some will always leave, but there are ways to keep more butts in the seats longer and more engaged.)

No point in talking about it. The people that are leaving aren't reading this forum

Re: Fire at Kidd Brewer?
On a positive not, the band was much more engaged yesterday and the people playing the stadium music did a much better job of not interrupting our team when App's offense was on the field. For whatever reason the stadium was fairly subdued yesterday but the team did what they needed to do against TxSt.
