Montgomery, sure. Eastern Michigan, blech. At least we'd outdraw them.

Don't hold the phone on that, also might get a shot at powerful Akron or Miami OH

You guys do understand we weren't going to be picked by the first two bowls anyway - right? - they always have and will again pick the teams closest who will bring fans - It is not a knock on APP - like most everything, it is about the $$$

if we go 8-0 in conference we're going to nola or mobile at the very worst

Don't know but don't think so - they would take a "local" 7-1 Troy or "local" 7-1 Ark St over a school that is that 12-14 hours away --- Again, remember, it is about the money ---

Wanted NOLA. Would rather have Montgomery than Mobile.

Just an absolute Devil's advocate question here but gonna ask. Is there REALLY a hill of beans difference, at the end of the day, between any of those three bowls? Aren't we pretty much locked in to one of those three for the foreseeable future? I'm asking because I really don't know.

I hope this is not the case. We have next to nothing in common with Mac schools. They play half their schedule in the midweek. They also have terrible attendance. Eastern Michigan would be a disaster scenario.

Maybe Mobile would take us over Ark St. If Ark St loses to Troy we'll find out if Mobile wants the best team App or the team that would bring more fans, Ark St.

I don't see the Camellia bowl passing on us however which will not be popular in my family with two small children wanted to head to Orlando.

I agree, to the masses it doesn't really matter which bowl we're in. I think I speak for most of us when I presume that we're more interested in who we play as opposed to which bowl (although NO would've been fun)

Why aren't the SunBelt bowls ranked like the majority of the other conference bowl tie ins? Like Sun Belt team #1 is locked into NOLA, SunBelt #2 locked into Mobile and so on...

Do other "conference tie in" bowls get to select teams based on potential ticket sales??

It would take a lot of the guessing out of who is going to what bowl as the season comes to a close.

Because if the apocalypse came and Idaho won the conference, the bowls wanted a way out to not be forced to take a team from 2 thousand miles away.

Then there is the New Orleans/ULL situation. NOLA needs attendance, the Cajuns provide attendance. Take it as a badge of honor. The first 3 years we won the league we never got to play in New Orleans. It worked out for the better.

Be interested to hear why you're so certain. Seems like a strong possibility to me.

In terms of prestige, public perception, etc., I would say no. The differences are in destination, distance, TV coverage, etc.

The majority of G5 conferences actually do it the same way. Mountain West champion goes to Las Vegas (if not the NY6). CUSA champ gets to pick their bowl. Otherwise, it's all up to the bowls (with input from the conferences and schools).

There's even some of that in P5 selections, although there's more structure there.
