Cox!!
Let's talk about Cox, I hope he reaches the total yards rushing record Saturday AND if he does that they announce it to the crowd. What does he need, like 138 yards? What's ULM's rush defense like?

Re: Cox!!
There is no reason other than injury or just sucking that Marcus doesn't get at least 25 touches Saturday, his last home game as a Mountaineer. If he is given 25 touches, I believe he will break the record, and yes it should be announced to the crowd.

Wishing he breaks the record. In addition, hopefully he can finish his career without putting it on the carpet.

Re: Cox!!
If Satt continues to rotate series with Cox and Moore, than he will not get those 25 touches. It is hard for anyone to get into a good rhythm when they sit every other series. I hope we see Cox play every series of the entire game and break the record at home.

I can see Satt realizing what is at stake with the record. If it is at all possible I'm sure Cox will get the carries needed to give it a shot. Re: Cox!!
I hope so too but Satt is going to focus on winning the game first and foremost so his judgement between Moore and Cox will factor into that and Moore had a better game last week than Cox did...there are 3 games left for Cox to get the 138 but it'd be cool to see him break it at The Rock. I'm going to miss watching the beast play...have thoroughly loved watching him.bigdaddyg wrote:I can see Satt realizing what is at stake with the record. Re: Cox!!
I think that Cox will get the touches he needs this Saturday as long as he is having a great game. If he has another day where he just isn't clicking, he won't get them. I would love to see him break a long TD run again though.

Re: Cox!!
Satt will put a plan in place to beat ULM and that means Cox and Moore split carries. ULM is better today than they were just a few weeks ago with that freshman QB.
Cox would rather finish the season 9-3, hopefully 10-3, than break that record.
If App goes 10-3 I guarantee Cox breaks the record.

Re: Cox!!
I don't think there's much doubt he breaks the record, barring injury. My hope was that he could have a strong enough finish to get a fourth 1,000-yard season, but at this point that would probably take at least one monster (i.e., 200+ yards) game. Entirely doable against the two remaining teams, but not with the number of carries he's currently getting.

Re: Cox!!
With it being Senior day, I imagine Marcus will get the start and, if he is running well, the bulk of the carries. In a perfect scenario, he breaks the record early 2nd half and Jalin takes over to close it out

Re: Cox!!
As Saint said, the record will be secondary. Satt will be mindful of it, but the game plan is to beat an improving ULM. No doubt Cox will start, as he did last game. But, they likely will share the load. Not sure Marcus needs to carry the ball 30 times considering where he was a couple of weeks ago.

Re: Cox!!
I'm not dissing Moore in the least as he's done an amazing job (leading the league in rushing yards, right?)...but how does he compare to Cox on receptions and yards after catch? I've replayed that Cox touchdown reception against Tennessee over and over again...

Re: Cox!!
Yeah, not to sidetrack the thread, but that's the truth. Cox had 43 receptions as a freshman and only 42 in the ~2.5 seasons since. Maybe some of that was Bryant's habit of checking down too much and some was FCS competition, but he also averaged 13 yards per catch that year. Considering how much trouble we seem to have getting the ball to our WRs, you'd think throwing to the RBs more might be a good option.JTApps1 wrote:We've stopped throwing to the running back for some reason so it probably won't matter.

Re: Cox!!
Yea shame on us (one of the few criticism s I have w/ Satt). I don't really get that. Marcus has such good hands and is great after the catch. Really don't know why we didn't take advantage of his ability during the Troy game. From a coaching perspective, to not use the talents that are available to you, particularly when the team has been struggling from the WR position, I just don't get it. Frustrating!!!

Re: Cox!!
We tried to get the ball to him several times on screen plays but couldn't connect. He's not fully healthy, and likely wont be until maybe the bowl game, when he gets 4 weeks to "rest".AppFan11 wrote:Yea shame on us (one of the few criticism s I have w/ Satt).
