Predict the bowls
Key games this week: Ark St. @ Texas St., Troy @ GS, NMSU @ USA, ULL @ ULM, I'll assume Ark St. wins in all scenarios and I don't think it matters what Troy does.
Option A - all favorites wins - Troy, USA, ULL win
NO - ULL vs. S. Miss.
DG - Troy vs. Toledo
Cam - Ark St. vs. Miami (OH)
Cure - App vs. UCF/Memphis
AZ - Idaho vs. Air Force
Birmingham - USA vs. a 6-6 P5 team
My guess is under this scenario some are picking USA to Orlando and App to Vegas
Option B - Troy and ULL win
Same as above except USA doesn't go bowling
Option C - Troy and USA win
NO - Troy
DG - App
Cam - Ark st.
Cure - USA
AZ - Idaho

Re: Predict the bowls
Saint, this looks solid to me. My biggest fear is LaLa lays the emotional egg to an improving Monroe. They are basically playing a rivalry game in consecutive weeks. A LaLa loss puts us in Alabama, somwhere, but a win by the Cajuns, IMO, all but sends the Apps to Orlando.

Re: Predict the bowls
Lots of ifs in this but, if LaLa and USA both lose, then there will be four 5-7 teams bowling. The 4th in line by APR is Texas. In all likelihood, they will decline a bowl at 5-7 with no coach. The 5th team in line by APR is ULM. Don't know how that affects where we go, but it's a scenario not listed yet.bigCasu wrote:Saint, this looks solid to me. Re: Predict the bowls
Not sure I agree with that. Still think there's a good chance that if ULL loses, the first three bids go to stAte, Troy and USA, in one order or another. Then again, I'd be fine with Montgomery again, so I'm not dreading that. Not really that high on Orlando this year.bigCasu wrote:Saint, this looks solid to me. OTOH, a ULL win gives NOLA one more option besides us.
Finally, I can't see the Vegas scenario happening. Don't see any rationale for Orlando picking USA over us.

Re: Predict the bowls
I will be interested to see what happens with ULL if they win. If I'm Benson, I think I'd lobby NOLA to take one of the top three teams. Having the league's nominal #1 bowl take a 6-6 team over three co-champions would not be a good look IMO.

Eh, it won't happen but I wouldn't mind going to Vegas for a good time...just as long as the dumb old timers and lazy students don't leave by halftime!!

Re: Predict the bowls
Just signed up, Graduated in '10, been a season ticket holder for 4 years now.
Question: Any way we know of the total ticket purchases for each bowl from either goasu.com or the ticket office ... and how much does that go into the decision process of our bowl?
I already purchased two for each bowl destination. Really hoping for Orlando because of the cite. Montgomery is an easy drive/trip. NO would be the most fun but also most expensive. Like the possible matchup in Mobile of a good MAC team and being only football game on that night. I'm just excited and ready to make a return trip to a bowl! Go Apps!

The NCAA doesn't have a role bowl selection.WVAPPeer wrote:I agree EastHall but we all must keep in mind this is the NCAA where $$$ talks ---

Don't expect that this year unless NO is willing to take someone other than a 6-6 ULL team.kiddbrewer wrote:If I remember, it leaked out early last year.

Re: Predict the bowls
Welcome to the site. App won't publicly announce exact numbers, but it is definitely a factor in the selection process. Don't know if you made the trip last year, but it was a blast. I'm sure it will be again this year regardless of destination.CoachRob wrote:Just signed up, Graduated in '10, been a season ticket holder for 4 years now.

Who you callin' dumb? I promise not to hold your youth & inexperience against you.MountaineerChemist10 wrote:Eh, it won't happen but I wouldn't mind going to Vegas for a good time...just as long as the dumb old timers and lazy students don't leave by halftime!!
FYI, I NEVER leave a game early, except for the one time at KBS when the icy/sleet mix was blowing back into my face.
Vegas would be fun, though! Doubtful that is our bowl game. More likely, it will be Orlando.

Re: Predict the bowls
what I wonder is if the SBC has 6 teams with an open spot against a 6-6 P5 squad, would the conference do some horse trading to get App or Troy into that game rather than ULL or USA?
