Game Time Problem?

Does anyone think our TV numbers will take a hit because UNC v. Kentucky is on at the same time? We had pretty impressive viewing numbers last time IIRC.

We will lose some viewers, but not too many. Average college basketball fan doesn't really watch until march madness. Average college football fan looks forward to the bowl season, and I expect most televisions in bars as well as in homes to be tuned into ESPN all day Saturday.

Believe this same basketball event (CBS Sports Classic or something) was the same day as our bowl last year, though I'm not sure what game was opposite ours.

I'm not as sure. UNC v. Kentucky is not an ordinary bball game for the Cheat folks, both those that went there and the Wal-Mart crowd. I think they'll watch but would have watched the APP game if the matchup was Tenn v. Virginia or something else.

Given what I witnessed during basketball season while in school (A lot of UNC fans in the student body). I wonder how many App students who are UNC fans too will watch our football team instead.

I would think the impact of people who are both App and UNC fans choosing to watch the basketball game would be negligible on the ratings. I think the bigger question is, for neutral fans who are just flipping around looking for sports to watch, will they go for the big-name (but ultimately relatively unimportant early-season) basketball game or the bowl game between teams they don't know anything about?

I think the only App students who will choose the UNC game over the App Bowl game are those who really don't care for football in general and really prefer basketball. More about the sport than the school.

Yea. I'm all about Duke when it comes to basketball, but I wouldn't miss this game even if Duke played UCLA. Already told my wife I'm busy from 530 until about 8

One advantage we have for channel surfers is that our game is on ESPN - we would really have a viewer problem with the Cure on CBSSN ---

The first half of our game will also overlap with the second half of the Las Vegas Bowl (Houston-San Diego State), so I'd guess most neutral fans just looking for a game will watch that one unless it's a blowout.

Did the tarholes play Saturday? Against kentucky? Wow.... who knew? All I know is the Apps were playing and I had no desire to watch or search for any other team regardless of the sport.
Side note: I did hear that the 'holes were saying "their guy scored 47 points and we only lost by 3."
News flash unc-cheat fans: you still lost.
