CBS Sports CFB FBS Attendance

Unless I missed something it appears that App State led all FBS schools in percent of capacity at 113%.

That's hard to believe from what I saw. There were a lot of empty seats on TV.

This was interesting from the article you posted:

One big attendance loser was Missouri, whose crowds dropped 20 percent one year after racial protests on campus that included a boycott by the football team. Once a perennial top-25 attendance leader, the Tigers averaged only 52,236 fans for its smallest crowds since 1996. Missouri expanded its stadium to 71,168 shortly after joining the SEC.

Move everyone off the hill into the north end zone and the north end zone fills up with the overflow going to the east stands. The west stands seemed mostly full at the four games I attended. None of the hill is considered as official seating capacity for these type of numbers. I do think 113% seems a bit much but over 100% seems reasonable. The other thing is the a ticket sold but not used for a particular game is also counted in attendance, even if the ticker bearer did not attend the game in person.
