If you didn't go, you missed out!

First, great job by everyone who came to Montgomery and supported our Mountaineers! I think the fan support during the game definitely played an important role in the outcome.

For those who didn't make the trip this year, for whatever reason, you really missed out on a great game and another well run bowl experience by the town, the Yosef Club and our Alumni Association. No bowl is perfect, but this set up is a great one. Everything is within a 1.5 mile walk. You can do it on a budget, or you can blow out your wallet. But any time we can have a great weekend watching our Mountaineers play its well worth the time.

Go APP!

We didn't go. As I mentioned we had a wedding to attend. There were 10 of us that were at the wedding that went last year. BUT the father of the bride had a TV set up for us at the reception. Didn't miss a snap. During our enjoyment of the game some guy walked up to the TV and got ready to change the channel"The UNC-UK game is on" he said. He came close to death.

Agree, great fun and say what you want about Montgomery but it is a good spot for the number of fans we travel. 70 or 80k stadium would swallow us. Wish they would kill the AZ tie in and add Charleston. I think we would travel in force there.

Unless something changes, we better get used to going to Montgomery. The stars are almost always going to align for us to go to the Camellia Bowl. I thoroughly enjoyed our two trips and am looking forward to next year.

Thought it was incredibly awesome of the Director of Public Safety to make the rounds in Lot E and speak to every tailgate that was set up and thank us for coming. My only complaint was that we need more than 3 johns in that end of the parking lot!

Our group of 4 had a blast in Montgomery for the weekend. I felt that most establishments downtown (i.e. Aviator Bar, Dreamland BBQ and Mellow Mushroom) were more prepared to host our fans this year than they were last year. The city of Montgomery have been gracious hosts two years in a row.

Yes. Let's just say that by the end of pregame, the ladies in line for those had been effectively reduced to one available john.

Working in retail, the 4th quarter makes or breaks our year so I haven't been able to go the last two years, but I'm hoping next year to be there with my wife in tow!

It was a great experience for the second time in a row! Lots of areas to explore, great alumni tailgate, locals seem to love us! Awesome App fan participation during the game! If you didn't go, you really did miss out!

I know that some folks wanted a more touristy destination, but honestly, this time of year there is so much going on near home that extending a bowl experience into a vacation is not really practical, doable or affordable. I'll go wherever the Mountaineers play, but I certainly would not hesitate to visit Montgomery again. It's an easy down and back and wherever the App Nation convenes, it's going to be a party!

I planned to create a separate thread but this is a good place for my comments. Who watched the Miami Beach Bowl today? Fantastic destination, just the kind of place many of our fans seemed to desire. AAC opponent. Played on a workday in the afternoon. If you were like me, you were working. With no TV nor time to watch if I had one. I bet the rating for the Camellia Bowl will be double the ratings for the Miami Bowl.

The Camellia Bowl's finish aired in prime time on Saturday night on national TV. I've been to Montgomery both years and loved both trips. My hotel room at the Hilton Doubletree was very affordable at $113. It was walkable to the Alley District area which had numerous restaurants and bars. Throughout the weekend restaurant employees and even locals eating at Hardee's welcomed our group and said they hoped we enjoyed the weekend. Police presence made me feel perfectly safe walking at night. The Saturday Fan Fest is well done. I parked in lot E last year, was happy to pay $20 and enjoyed it. This year I parked directly across the street from the stadium for free and it was great. The street in front of the stadium is closed to traffic and it makes it very nice for pedestrians. The entrance process and security is well done. The stadium seating and Video/Sound is excellent. Although concessions and restrooms could be better, the level of availability increased greatly from last year and at $4 for a beer it's a bargain. Driving to Montgomery is very viable for most of our fans. Made it down and back on $50 of gas. Even the bowl ticket cost of $30 is reasonable.
If we end up in Montgomery next year on "3 Peat Saturday" I'll be very happy. Like the post title states, if you didn't go, you missed out on a great memory. Guess we will have to wait til next year to see where we might go if we are bowl eligible---and I'm very confident in our chances for that---but if it's the Camellia Bowl, it's a good landing spot!

Both years have been great. Took the bus trip last year and the weekend trip this year. Both excellent. While I'd love the opportunity to experience a bowl in the Big Easy or Orlando, Montgomery rolls out the red carpet and gives us 1) national tv coverage 2) quality opponent 3) driveable trip 4) and a good date. Not too shabby.

I was there again, with my 8 friends and we stayed in the RV lot again. I just can't brag enough about how affordable and how worthwhile a trip this is. Montgomery opens their arms to all of us on this weekend and its a blast for all who attend. The weather could not have been more perfect for the middle of December. 75 degrees., are you kidding me? We made some memories that will last a lifetime, I do believe that if we continue to go to Montgomery, some interest in attending may dwindle. I would be surprised if we ended up there again next year just haven't heard of many teams being selected 3 years in a row for the same location, I'm sure its been done. Maybe one trip to Orlando or New Orleans and we will be screaming for Montgomery again!

We had a great time once again although we did miss out on some of the Friday activities due to other obligations. As others have said Montgomery is easy to get to, much more affordable than many host cities, and the people there are extremely welcoming. We went to Publix on Saturday morning to get a few items for the tailgate and were stopped at least 5 times by people thanking us for coming down and wishing us luck in the game. We had similar experiences everywhere we went in the city both years.

I wouldn't mind going to other bowls, but I'll never be disappointed when selected for the Camellia Bowl. The only negative is the MAC schools don't bring many fans, but there isn't much anyone can do about that other than get a different conference tie-in.

Had a great time for the second year in a row. Our tickets were in section P. Lots of App fans and locals who wanted to come out and watch good football. Spoke to several during and after the game. They were from Montgomery, and came out to support App after the experience they had last year. They all said the same thing. The App fans were great last year and they enjoyed our style of football. I was told to "please come back". They really enjoy having App there. I know we want to experience different bowls, but I will have no problem going back to Montgomery.

The locals were great. I had fun in the curb market beside Lot E and enjoyed sharing "Roll Tide!" and "War Eagle!" with the 'Bama and Auburn fans (just don't tell my family I let "War Eagle" escape from my lips). Every one of the locals I talked with said they were pulling for App.

Montgomery may not be a "destination city", but they do put on a good show. There's something nice about being the only game in town, too. I wouldn't mind a return trip at all. Shoot, we've won 2/3 of all the Camellia Bowls ever played. Doesn't that make it a tradition?

We had a local family in front of us and they were awesome. The father was a 'Bama grad and the mother was an Auburn grad and their kids were students at 'Bama. They were lots of fun, and my being a Carolina Panthers fan and Cam Newton coming from Auburn, and 'Bama being well...'Bama, I sided with the mom and had a lot of fun picking on the dad and kids. It was fun...they seemed to be pulling for App but they were surrounded by black and gold.
