Newspaper coverage

Unread post by WVAPPeer » Mon Dec 19, 2016 2:09 pm

I was listening to David Glenn today and the first caller was an APP fan living in the Triangle and said that the News and Observer had ZERO articles about the Camellia Bowl win and that the Charlotte paper had it on page 10 --- Hell, even the Burlington paper, who covers every sport played at UNC including Tiddley-Winks, had a decent article ---

Media in the Triangle don't give us the credit we deserve. Whether it's WRAL, WNCN, News and Disturber we're like Rodney Dangerfield, we just can't get no respect!

You know i HATE the Disturber, but have to give credit. Sunday morning print, that is correct, but have seen 3 different articles in the online version and 1 is still there now.

Neither are much worth reading for sports news unless you are a heels fan.

Greensboro only carries the W-SJ articles but they do carry most of that. Being sister publications under the Berkshire Hathaway corporate structure certainly helps Greensboro. Until that happened Greensboro coverage was less than stellar. At this point I can count on a preview article before the game and a wrap-up after the game. Since The Charlotte and Raleigh papers are both McClatchey papers I bet they will either both cover App or neither will, which is a shame.

Sure but it is an article that anyone subscribing to the N&R can read. I don't care where it comes from in this day and age of newspaper publishing. (Well I would love if ASU had a beat writer from N&R, but I try to be reasonable.) With UNCG and A&T then Guilford and Greensboro and Elon and HPU all in the area I'll take the coverage and be happy with it. It was more than we were getting years ago from the N&R.
