just got more meaningful with their win over #24 Temple

Was it 2nd quarter? I thought it was the beginning of the 3rd that their QB went down. Regardless, this was a tale of two halves. WFU played like chit in the 2nd half & looked unbeatable in the 1st.WataugaMan wrote:They lost their starting QB prior to the second half, I think.
True of their whole season. They were 5-1 after six games, but finished 6-6 in the regular season. Middling (or even poor) offense for most of the season, but solid defense.8993 wrote:They had an incredible first half but an awful second half. They're lucky to have hung on to win by the end.
Yes! I agree completely. Coach should have sat the whole team down 15 minutes before the Miami kickoff and done Yoga.MDaniels84 wrote:I am looking forward to this game due to proximity only. This was always a slobber knocker back in the day due to geography between the two schools. However, let's please please please not blow this one up like we did Miami. If we play hard nosed App brand football, we should be very competitive in this match up.
See Western Michigan's season for disproving this point.bcoach wrote:Wake was 6-6 going into the bowl. A win against them is not going to get attention from anybody. They are a P5 in name only. The game will be fun due to our history and proximity.
They ran the table and beat two P5 teams. I realize that one was Illinois but the fact is that they also ran the table. Now if we ran the table with Georgia being one of the wins that is a different story. My comment is that beating Wake is just no big deal outside of NC.ericsaid wrote:See Western Michigan's season for disproving this point.bcoach wrote:Wake was 6-6 going into the bowl. Since you're the King, what is your early prediction?biggie wrote:I work for their hospital, so I look forward to hopefully a win for App for bragging rights.
In a one game vacuum I agree with you coach. I do think it will get a couple mentions here and there if we beat WFU, even if we do lose to UGA simply because it will be easy words for sportscenter anchors to regurgitate "app beats P5 for the first time since Michigan". Something along those lines. But no major attention. Obviously if we're 3 or 4-0 after the WFU game then I think we'd be getting a good deal of attention.bcoach wrote:They ran the table and beat two P5 teams. My wife works there also. I am looking for a win also.biggie wrote:I work for their hospital, so I look forward to hopefully a win for App for bragging rights.
Agree that beating Wake alone wouldn't be considered a big deal nationally. But I do think if we went, say, 11-1 with a loss to UGA, at least having a win over a P5 (and maybe a respectable one if this season is any indication) would put us in the running for the NY6 if there's no unbeaten G5 team.bcoach wrote:They ran the table and beat two P5 teams. Will depend on our WRs/passing game and front D at the time and I know very little about Wake details at this point.BUTCH1991 wrote:Since you're the King, what is your early prediction?biggie wrote:I work for their hospital, so I look forward to hopefully a win for App for bragging rights.
