Ok ok I get that this is a pointless post but it's the offseason. I was watching Tennessee's bowl game the other day and they were wearing their Smoky Mountain helmets, which I really like. Now I don't want to see App copying other teams but being located in the Blue Ridge Mountains (and with our mascot being the Mountaineers) I think it would be a cool idea if we could somehow incorporate the mountains on our helmets (or uniforms).

*Edit: I realize I was wrong when I typed Smokies. I apologize, but I don't need everyone pointing it out for me to realize I was wrong. Now lets either end this thread or get it back on track to talking about helmets and uniforms.

I guess not technically if you are basing off of the Great Smoky Mountains NP but I've always considered the Blue Ridge Mountains as being part of the Smokies. I know that they are called the Smokies because of the fog that accumulates in the valleys looking like smoke and I think we can all agree that that fits with Boone. But nonetheless same idea could go for being located in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Rather than the Smokies, it'd be cool to incorporate the Blue Ridge Parkway into the helmet, seeing as it is in App's backyard and it is one of the points of pride for recruiting students to go to Appalachian State.

Howard's Knob Noggin Helmet.

I had never noticed the outlines of the mountains in their gray helmets. That's very cool! Doing something like that at this point would definitely look like we're stealing their idea. But either Howard's knob or Grandfather mountain would be great options.

Would love to see this, or something like it, on a helmet somehow.

Smokies are way far west of Boone. They're just on the other side of Bryson City, which is the town over from Cullowhee. We don't need that, lol.


It's not a helmet idea, but I wish for our field that we'd create a design similar to what Wyoming has on theirs with the mountains incorporated into it.

Damnit. Boone is NOT even close to being in the smokey mountains.
