has had discussions with WF. Also mentioned for the Houston DC job. First, congrats to Woody on the job he's done and he deserves the recognition. Secondly, even though he's supposedly not a finalist, it would suck to lose him to the Deacs since App has an upcoming series against them. Lastly, who would be some names you'd want to see on the short list?

Scot Sloan. He is NW's right hand man, knows the D and the players, helped designed our redzone D and also designed the dime we've been using in more recent games to slow down some of the tempo passing teams. Thrown in his importance in recruiting and it's a win/win.

Not disagreeing with you, but who would we pass his recruiting coordinator duties to in that case?
Given that Ivey is supposed to be a hot commodity on the coaching carousel, it wouldn't surprise me to see him given a promotion to keep him in house. If not one of those two, I'd assume Satt would make one of his usual outstanding outside hires.

Reading the article it doesn't seem like Woody's expected to be a finalist for the Wake position, thank goodness. But he could be elsewhere...

Bingo. The recruit aspect is probably the most important reason to promote Sloan if Woody leaves.

Watts was recruiting coordinator at MTSU so he knows the job. But Scot would still be very much involved in recruiting, especially in the ATL metro area during the heavy recruiting times which, even though recruiting is year round, are outside of the normal time consuming parts of the offseason and during the season. We have plenty of choices on staff and, given the way we've hired, could even find a safeties position coach to bring in with RC in the background. My point was that Sloan has been groomed by Woody to take the position if he leaves. It's the reason he mentions him so much during pressers. And with the relationships he's built with the players, both through recruiting and as NW's right hand man, my opinion is he's the right choice for the job. And for Ivey, we have Co-Offensive coordinators, can easily have Co D's as well. Both are very important and we need to do all we can to try and hold on to them. The last thing we need to get into is the whole staff turnover coaching carousel. Nothing kills momentum of a program quicker than that.
