I guess many from the press don't watch their games on ESPN3. They probably have zero clue how good our team was this year. It's like a west coast players trying to win the Heisman, when all of their games start at 10 PM and nobody watches.

Does anybody think our "RankAppState" effort may have created a subliminal backlash? When I first heard it, I thought there was no harm in tooting our own horns. If we don't, no one else will. But for this team to get no votes is wrong.

It crossed my mind, but I imagine it could have only negatively impacted a handful of voters.AppGrad78 wrote:Does anybody think our "RankAppState" effort may have created a subliminal backlash? Re: Final AP Poll.... No votes
When it comes down to it we had 3 wins against teams with a winning record. Maybe we could have snuck in a few receiving votes but I'm not upset about it. The fastest way to get attention is beating teams you're not supposed to beat. On next years schedule that is only going to be UGA and Wake Forest.

You're right. But compare our wins/losses to those of San Diego State (#25, 113 votes), Western Kentucky (32 votes), Air Force (30 votes), Tulsa (10 votes) and Temple (8 votes).mtnjax wrote:I mean, really, who did we beat?

OK, then it's a Sun Belt bias thing and all we can do is our part. If we beat UGA and Wake, and everyone else next year we will be ranked in next year's final poll. I guarantee it. Then we will be able to biatch about not being ranked high enough.EastHallApp wrote:You're right. Re: Final AP Poll.... No votes
Well it is UNC. They always receive the "benefit of the doubt." And UNC is one of those teams, whether it's basketball or football, they've always had to play their way out of the top 25 whereas most other teams have to play their way in.Yosef77 wrote:You have got to be kidding me. North Carolina received NO votes in the last poll after the regular season then they lost their bowl game and received 8 votes in the final AP poll. How does that even come close to making any sense? Who the hell are these AP voters that move teams up when they loss?

Re: Final AP Poll.... No votes
UNC finishing with 8 ORV is trash. They lost 3 of their last 4 with the lone win coming against el Cid. UNC gets to 8 wins on the back of 2 FCS wins and gets votes?!? Many more deserving teams. Looks like App lost their lone vote in the coaches poll after winning the Camellia Bowl. WTF!?!

Edited for accuracy...I was looking at the wrong poll. They shouldn't have gotten 8 votes.EastHallApp wrote:They aren't ranked.moonshine wrote:UNC being ranked is trash. NO votes either in Coaches poll. We had 2 votes after the last regular season poll. This is BS. Teams that lost leap frogged us. Including TROY.
Damn.
Damn.

Re: Final AP Poll.... No votes
Being un-ranked this season came down to basically three things: 1) We should have beaten Tennessee 2) Although a win against Miami would have been a stretch, getting taken to the wood shed did us no favors, totally inexcusable. and 3) Lack of focus at Troy was the final nail in the coffin.
Next season we should take care of our conference foes, fairly confident. Therefore, if we play Georgia close, beat Wake, and our bowl game we should be ranked in 2017.

Re: Final AP Poll.... No votes
Satt was a voter in the coaches' poll. Guess we can't complain too much if even our own coach didn't think it was worth voting for us.
ETA: Note that there were 64 voters in the coaches' poll but only 60 ballots submitted. Wonder if that's where our disappearing two votes came from.

Re: Final AP Poll.... No votes
I'd say a bit of a reality check perception-wise. We don't make the top 40 in either poll or even crack the top ten in G5.
Re: Final AP Poll.... No votes
Well I guess what is bothering me is the change from the Polls after the regular season to the polls after the bowls. To move up teams that lost their Bowl (UNC, ARK) and to move down teams that won their Bowl (APP) doesn't make any sense at all. I have lost all respect for the Poll system. We only lost 3 games and 2 of them are in the top 25 and the other was after we played them AND we where one of only a few teams to play NO FCS teams. We also beat 3 (9 or 10 win) teams in Old Dominion, Toledo and Idaho. Our guys deserved more respect then this.

Re: Final AP Poll.... No votes
UNC didn't deserve to be ranked either (and they weren't, not even close), but they won at FSU, at Miami, beat Pitt and blew out Georgia Tech. I understand there is a lot of hate for them on this board, but them getting a handful of votes in one poll isn't really the problem for App.3rd wrote:UNC only beat 6 FBS schools... that's all I need to know about the voters.
