Final AP Poll.... No votes
Odd..... the final AP poll is out and there aren't any votes for App State or any Sun Belt team. I am surprised. But alas a 10 win season, a bowl victory, and a share of the conference title are more enough for me. http://collegefootball.ap.org/poll?utm_ ... m=AP_Top25

Re: Final AP Poll.... No votes
So who would we replace in the top 25. I am far from an expert but I looked at the list and I just don't know.
Re: Final AP Poll.... No votes
Not being ranked doesn't bother me. Not receiving a single vote does. Hoping Satt uses it with the team for motivation when we head to Athens to kickoff 2017.

Re: Final AP Poll.... No votes
Getting at least one vote includes what, about 45 teams? - App should be in that list!!! --- I think we will in the coaches poll ---

Totally agree. App should at least get some votes. My gut tells me that we don't need any extra motivation for next season but we may have found some anyway.AppAlum12 wrote:Not being ranked doesn't bother me. Not receiving a single vote does. No votes = need to start finishing the job whenever we play P5 teams!

Unless we upset Georgia, don't see our 2017 schedule helping our case much. I wish we weren't playing FCS teams again.

Re: Final AP Poll.... No votes
By my count, there were 10 G5 teams in the poll including those receiving votes and 41 teams altogether. So according to the AP, we are at best 11th among the G5 and 42 in all of FBS.

Re: Final AP Poll.... No votes
Not to argue with asu34-32mi but your name is a contradiction to your sentiment. We have been offerered chances to play fbs teams as fcs and now we return the favor. We shouldn't be like those teams that think we are too good for fcs. Just my opinion though.
Re: Final AP Poll.... No votes
You have got to be kidding me. North Carolina received NO votes in the last poll after the regular season then they lost their bowl game and received 8 votes in the final AP poll. How does that even come close to making any sense? Who the hell are these AP voters that move teams up when they loss?

Re: Final AP Poll.... No votes
Not to mention that ut and Miami went into the polls leapfrogging tons of teams...and app didn't get a sniff? Western ky pulled a lot of votes and one of my customers on the board at wku felt app and wku were very evenly matched. Wtf

Re: Final AP Poll.... No votes
No votes, not sure if we deserve any or not? This is going to be the norm as long as we compete in the SBC as a non P5. I'm ready for a reclassification so APP can actually have a shot at competing ever again for a National Championship.

Re: Final AP Poll.... No votes
No votes is just ridiculous. We got votes a couple of times when we were FCS and we are balling at a much higher level now. We were also the best team in the state and that was before the bowls.

Re: Final AP Poll.... No votes
As I wrote on this board, I had zero expectation for us to be ranked. With that said, for us to get zero votes while San Diego State actually gets ranked 25th is a joke. It really does show how far both App and the Sun Belt have to go in terms of media perception - or, maybe more accurately, how far the media has to go in recognizing how the conferences have changed.
San Diego State's best wins were a 5-7 Cal team (at home, by 5), and 8-6 Wyoming team, and Houston in their bowl game. Houston was obviously their best win, and they finished t-5th in the AAC and didn't have their coach for that game. EVERY OTHER TEAM in SDSU's division finished the regular season below .500. They didn't play Boise. They didn't play Air Force. They didn't play New Mexico. They lost to Wyoming, South Alabama (by 18) and Colorado State (at home, by 32).
There is simply no reason for them to be that far ahead of App. Same goes for every other G5 team besides Western Michigan and South Florida.

Re: Final AP Poll.... No votes
Good post, the landscape has changed in the G5. I would wager most of these voters don't follow much G5 and just rely on old stereotypes and trends. San Diego State has always been a media darling.EastHallApp wrote:As I wrote on this board, I had zero expectation for us to be ranked. Re: Final AP Poll.... No votes
No votes at all is total crap. This is a 10-win, conference title winning, bowl winning team with a top-10 scoring defense. Our conference finished second in bowl winning percentage. I wasn't expecting to be ranked but having no votes at all is total crap.

Re: Final AP Poll.... No votes
I can't seem to get myself worked up over this. We had a superlative season against G5 competition and nothing can take that away. Nothing will make it more than it was. We did not beat a ranked team but we did lose to 3 teams that are/were. A few votes would have been nice but I can't see a lack of any being a snub.
