Athletic Sideline Treatment Tent
Folks, I am trying to raise money for a sideline treatment tent for our outdoor sports teams, though Football comes to mind first, could be used by soccer, track and field... I have spoken to Doug Gillin and Brian Tracy about this. I have also discussed this with "Firemoose". I have spoken to a few on here already. This is an idea I came up with and presented to atheltic dept. They talked to the trainers, who all really want this.
The tents offer privacy to our athletes on the sideline. They can be raised and lowered in 5 seconds. The cost ranges from $5500-$7000 depending on options with the panels being printed. App State version would be 5500. I have committed to put $1100 into this. Our athletic department would love to have this as well as our trainers.
There is already a fund set up according to Brian Tracy ...Athletics Department Fund (092806). Brian said you can donate directly to this fund noting what it is for OR send funds (noting what it's for) DIRECTLY to Brian's attention and he will submit for processing.
I would greatly appreciate any help on this to get it done... Our goal is to have this by spring/summer. As recent as our bowl game, we had our starting QB on the sidelines, in open view, throwing up from a hit to the stomach. This would offer privacy to our athletes.
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide!!

Re: Football Sideline Treatment Tent
Our athletic department doesn't have the money to afford a tent? I am in favor of this as many other schools are doing it and it has benefits. I am just trying to understand why you are raising money for this tent.

It is not in their budget... I offered to do this because I think it is a great idea. I sought Doug and Bryan's OK to do this... They liked the idea.

I'm not saying it's not needed. It is, but how can a...tailgate tent cost $7,000? Does it come with two EpiPens?

Re: Athletic Sideline Treatment Tent
I feel certain I can build that tent and deliver it at a profit for far less than the low end estimate ($5,500), and I have never made a tent. That's a Bama price.

I tell ya what. A lot of other schools are buying them. If y'all want to build one, fine. I'll bow out. I'm trying to help. All I'm seeing is critical comments. I wouldn't have put it out it if all it was going to raise was ridicule.

Re: Athletic Sideline Treatment Tent
I'm an athletic trainer so let me pass along my personal perspective: due to HIPAA and the concern for athlete (read: patient) privacy a company developed this tent a few years ago. By marketing it as HIPAA-compliant they were able to make colleges and universities see the need from the manufacturer's perspective. That means a product was developed and a need was also manufactured. My guess is that by attaching an exorbitant price tag the tent now becomes a desired requirement plus by showing Alabama's sideline with one folks are probably saying, "well if 'Bama has one then we must have one also." Just my $0.02.
We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.

Calm down. I'm giving you a hard time. I like the tent thing. Tell me how to contribute.YesAppCan wrote:I tell ya what. A lot of other schools are buying them. If y'all want to build one, fine. Re: Athletic Sideline Treatment Tent
My post was not intended to be a put-down, if it was taken that way. I wanted to explain who the tent idea evolved. With patient confidentiality be so much in the forefront it was deemed a practical way to comply with courtesy and HIPAA. We contributed to the S and C funds a few years ago; why not to this fund?YesAppCan wrote:I tell ya what. A lot of other schools are buying them. If y'all want to build one, fine. I'll bow out. Side note: the tent is nice but as others are alluding to it is grossly over-priced even with the logo.

It's priced like a piece of medical equipment. That's what's wrong with healthcare, but we don't talk politics around here anymore.

I'm not upset. Lots of things are overpriced in our world-- The first post shows how to contribute. You can call Bryan Tracy 828-262-3108. If ya want to help, it IS GREATLY APPRECIATED... If ya don't , that's fine too. I'm contributing 20% of the cost myself.

Re: Athletic Sideline Treatment Tent
I bought an industrial strength, 20x10 with custom logo a couple of years ago for $1500.00. Side panels would run you a couple of hundred dollars more. The HIPAA ploy is a marketing ploy. I suggest going on a website and custom design one, get a price and ask the AD if that is acceptable. You can get one for made for a fraction. If the cost.
