ESPN radio this morning

Unread post by bigdaddyg » Sat Feb 04, 2017 1:07 pm

Was listening to the ESPN show this morning with Mel Kiper. I caught the segment discussing running backs and the next NFL draft. Of course the usual suspects like Fournette and Cook were talked about and the kid from Coastal got a big mention. But towards the end when Kiper discussed guys who could get picked in the later rounds he brought up Marcus Cox- of course he mispronounced Appalachian but our man still got mentioned.

Nice. Kiper's usually hit-and-miss when it comes to the draft, but to be mentioned like that is a great honor. Wouldn't be surprised to see him get drafted somewhere in the 3rd-4th round.

I don't think it's because he went to App - NFL drafts guys from programs like ours and smaller all the time. It's because he lacks ideal size or (in most people's view) speed, he didn't play on special teams, and his receiving numbers were modest the past three years. Fifth round would be a great spot for him based on that. Now, maybe he surprises people at pro day (or the combine if he's invited) and changes that, because obviously the production speaks for itself.
