U Miss FCS?
My question is do you miss FCS or is FBS at the G5 level your cup to tea? I have raised this issue on the GS board with mixed results. As for me, I miss the FCS days. Sure, initially it was fun, but even if we had success every year, I would select FCS. Let's face it, with the money at the top of FBS, schools like GS and App can never win it all. I miss the the rivalry with FCS as it was more fun for many reasons to me. I wish we all would follow Idaho and drop back to FCS. Please share your thoughts. Thanks.

I thought I would, but don't at all! It's kind of funny, since we've moved up I have even felt a little elitist at times and in watching some FCS games I just look in wonderment that we used to be those "little guys"

Love FBS, would not go back for all the money in the world. I'd rather stick needles in my eyes (sarcasm) as to be FCS again. I don't miss the SmallCon (SoCon) at all. Go Apps!

No, not on balance. I thought I'd miss having a chance to win a national championship, but I've loved the bowl experiences and haven't really looked back in that regard. Only part I do miss is playing regional rivals instead of teams from Louisiana and Texas that no one cares about. But hopefully realignment will solve that within a few years.

I really enjoyed the playoffs and following the teams to see how the brackets were shaping up, BUT, the FBS is the right place for APP at this point in time -

I loved the playoffs (and this is going to sound arrogant) but I got tired of beating up the same teams every year. I absolutely love learning about the Sun Belt teams and drawing P5 schools to Boone, I've loved our two bowl games and there'll be a Sun Belt Championship game soon that'll be fun. I hope that some day, with re-structuring/re-alignment/or whatever, that we'll get another legitimate shot at a real playoff at this level...it's down the road though.

FBS is where it's at.
Wait 'til the stink starts scheduling P5's in Statesboro.... I think your Survey may have different results.
If we only had 3 or 4 Saturday home games year-over-year, I don't think there would be too many happy App fans.

This is how much FCS is in the rear view for me... When I read your thread title, I was asking myself why an SEC school would consider FCS.
If you're missing FCS so much, I suggest you start following Mercer. As for our folks, Cullowhee is two hours to the south.

Re: U Miss FCS?
I was against the move for three reasons: the Sun Belt is too spread out; the FBS business model for most G5s is broken; and playoffs are superior to low-level bowl games.
Since the move, some of my objections have been assuaged.
Beginning next year the Sun Belt will become a two-time zone conference. That's improvement. There's also been talk of realignment. Although I have my doubts that it'll happen, at least there's hope.
At the time of the move, Charlie Cobb was our AD. Putting him in charge of a $25 million budget was like asking Stevie Wonder to direct traffic. I'm much more confident Doug Gillin can effectively manage the department and keep us out of red ink.
I will always miss the playoffs, but the bowls in Montgomery have been less expensive, so there's that.
Count me among those who are starting to warm to the idea.

Re: U Miss FCS?
I was in favor of the switch to FBS from well, almost the beginning. I enjoyed the FCS years and the Championship runs. I watched many playoff games, including the first Championship in '05. Great game and great time. I was in Kidd Brewer during a snow storm where Pressley ran roughshod over our opponent that day. Great times in them all. That said, during the past several years when the Championship game was in Texas, I would definitely not have been able to go to that game. And we did win 3 National Championships although it was of the FCS. With that being said, yes, I know we have virtually no shot at the FBS Championship. But I still enjoy watching our team do extremely well in FBS and win 2 Bowl games so far. Hopefully one of the next ones, I will be able to attend. Go Mountaineers and Go Sun Belt!!

Nope. I know a good supplier. I've had to provide some to a lot of people over the years...not to mention myself as well..
