Quick Reminder

Unread post by ah59396 » Thu May 11, 2017 8:07 pm

A little offseason fun, but I love to reminisce;
  • We are entering our 4th season as an FBS team
  • We have 28 wins in our first 3 seasons as an FBS team, an average of 9.3 wins per season
  • We have 2 bowl victories/appearances in 3 seasons as an FBS team
  • We are hosting ACC Wake Forest in Boone this season and will likely be the favorite
  • We hosted ACC University of Miami in Boone in 2016
  • We are listed among the "favorite" G5 teams to get the Access Bowl bid in 2017
  • It's great to be a Mountaineer

Feel free to add to this list. What a wild ride this has been. What else have we done and what else do we have to look forward to?

I thought this was going to be about Brian Quick. Lest we forget:

I think it's 5 years for him in the Not For Long, going on 6. I am ready for him to have his break out season.

So Brian is entitled to a pension now when he retires. Correct?

This is great, but does everyone really think we'll be favored against wake? I'm a little surprised by that

Doesn't have anything to do with this fall, but based upon the Sagarin Rankings at the end of this past season, we would be an approximate 6 point favorite. But to also qualify, James Madison would be slightly favored to beat us.

I think realistically, we will probably be a slight underdog.

I would have liked a longer contract, but one year $855,000 isn't bad. Redskins running game is not the greatest, and Cousins threw more passes last season than everyone but Drew Brees. I would expect more of the same this year to keep up with the rest of the NFC East which means more opportunities for Quick to shine. I live in Northern Virginia surrounded by MANY Redskins fans...I will try my best to keep everyone updated on what fans and radio stations in the area praise or dislike about Quick. Not that is matters, but I always love to hear App State players get some love. I also promise to correct anyone who says "Quick went to App Uh Lay Shun State"

I think we might be a slight favorite over Wake. Would have been more confident in that before they finished strong last year though. Might depend on how we play vs. UGA. Wake has Presbyterian, BC and Utah State before us, so they could also inflate expectations with a relatively easy 3-0 start.

We've received votes in the coaches poll.

We are 3-0 vs the MAC, 2-1 vs CUSA, and 1-0 vs MW.

Announced future enhancements and expansion to KBS.

Really nothing more to add. We have exceeded EVERYONE's expectations, and we're going into the fall with possibly the highest expectations we have ever seen.

What other program has had more success in their first three years after making the move to FBS?

To answer the OP - What else we've done:

- 5 of 6 and 9 of 12 vs. GS. 4 of 6 in Statesboro.
- Back-to-back 10-win seasons.

What else I'm looking forward to:

- Series vs. Carolina, ECU, Marshall
- Driveable road games vs. Wake and UNCC.
- Playing in BofA Stadium.
- Our first top 25 ranking.

Only Marshall. And yes, they later received NCAA sanctions.

Oh yeah. Had to look back. Forgot about 1999. Finished 13-0. Beat Clemson that year and BYU in the Motor City Bowl.

If I had to set a line today, it would be Wake -2.

We can't have thread titled like this one and not mention Brian. Go back and read the Terms Of Service. ;)

Less than three years ago we lost to Liberty and Satt was 5-13 as a head coach and were one of the worst teams in FBS.

A lot has happened really quickly. I remember how excited I was when we beat ULM go to to 4-5 overall.
