Re: Orlando Sentinel Pre-Season Rankings
Obviously that is incorrect, at least based on the Orlando Sentinel's metrics but what puzzles me is why you said that. Now I am interested/curious in what other evidence you have seen that would have made you believe that UMass might be some better quality opponent than anybody we play in The Belt. There is nothing I have seen that would have led me to conclude they will be very good this year. Can you share your context?appmaj wrote:UMass could be "ranked" better than any conference opponent

I missed the ranking of UMass. If you read the thread you will see that.

Re: Orlando Sentinel Pre-Season Rankings
I did see that you missed it. My point was before you missed it, you somehow got the idea that UMass may be better than all our other Sun Belt opponents. I wanted to know why. Did you read something about UMass that implied they would have a good returning class, some big time recruits coming their way, some analyst thought they were ready for a big year? What led you to believe that they were any good because all I know is that last year they were 2-10 and only beat Florida International (4-8) and Wagner (weak FCS). I thought maybe I missed something about UMass.appmaj wrote:I missed the ranking of UMass. If you read the thread you will see that.

Not to speak for appmaj, but he did say they might be "ranked" (quotes his) better than our other opponents, which I thought was pretty clearly referring to their place in these rankings rather than his own view of them.AtlAppMan wrote:I did see that you missed it. Thanks East. That was exactly it. It is all moot since I skipped over UMass in looking at these rankings.

Re: Orlando Sentinel Pre-Season Rankings
The sad thing is, barring a bounce-back year by GS or someone else unexpected, we could go 10-2 and not really beat anyone of note. Of course we'd all be happy to celebrate another Sun Belt title, but if we want anyone outside the league to notice, we'll likely have to beat UGA and/or Wake.

Re: Orlando Sentinel Pre-Season Rankings
And GaSo showed up back at #88. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/c ... story.html
So among our opponents, only UGA has yet to show up as they work their way up the list a day at a time. (We haven't shown up yet either, btw.)

Re: Orlando Sentinel Pre-Season Rankings
No way ODU is better than Wake (barring a huge improvement). Their 10-3 record last year was nice but they got pounded by every good team they played.

I also doubt they're better than Troy. The countdown is fun, though. I'm thinking we'll be anywhere from 40s-50s.EastHallApp wrote:No way ODU is better than Wake (barring a huge improvement). Their 10-3 record last year was nice but they got pounded by every good team they played.

Re: Orlando Sentinel Pre-Season Rankings
we are, if we were to be ranked tomorrow, in the top 52% percentile of the league.
