I assume the board was placed there for future planning (e.g. pushing the hill inwards)hotrod2001 wrote:NewApp wrote:HUUGE! But couldn't they have put up exactly in the place (plus a few feet more) where the current board is? We're going to need that space for the Wake Game SRO's. Regardless, can't wait to see it in action...if they quit playing music and announcements over our NC BOD.huskie3 wrote:https://mobile.twitter.com/brian_d_trac ... 58/photo/1
YES IT IS BIGGGGGEEEERRRRR!
By the look of it, the pylons are butted right up next to the walking area, so I don't think a lot of the standing room is lost.

There were questions here about the cost of the blasting.

I believe that will be the new sound system.3rd wrote:Wonder what's going to go on the sides of the video board or if they are going to extend it all the way?

Re: New video board
One nice thing about the new board. It opens up a lot of possibilities about adding seating. For example sounds like we're now looking at Howard's Knob as a new seating area.

Re: New video board
I was in town this weekend and stopped by the stadium to take a look at the new board. The pictures from the hill near the Quinn Center have made me worry it was going to dwarf the stadium. But I also looked from the field house up to the new score board and it looks great. It's definitely big, but not so big that everything else looks small. Another check mark in DG's ledger! That man and his crew are doing good work.

Re: New video board
I imagine doing it in this order gave them more time to make sure the new board was done on tome. Worse case now would be to take the old board down next summer. Worse case if the old board went down first is the possibility of no board at all.asu1978 wrote:Shouldn't they have taken down the old sign before putting up the new one?

Re: New video board
If they are not going to tear down Owens Field House anytime soon, I wonder if they would put the old scoreboard on top of it. The one up there now is very small.

Owens will not hold the old board.ASUchipman wrote:If they are not going to tear down Owens Field House anytime soon, I wonder if they would put the old scoreboard on top of it. The one up there now is very small.

Re: New video board
The addition to Owens F H was designed to have another story if needed. I know because I drew the structural steels plans for that addition.

Re: New video board
Why didn't you just go ahead and add another 10,000 seat endzone addition on top of Owens in the plan?Dmanuhone wrote:The addition to Owens F H was designed to have another story if needed. I know because I drew the structural steels plans for that addition.
