Lloyds of London? Now you are talking about my life! Love the insurance analogy.asu66 wrote:The fix is ultimately gonna be controlled blasting. The contractor had to do a month of blasting in site-prep for the Athletics Center. It's nothing new to KBS. Insurance by Lloyd's of London would make me feel a little better about TNT use at The Rock.

Looked like hole 3 was being worked on yesterday. Judging solely by the seemingly covered other 2.

FWIW, Lloyds of London is not an insurer. They are a re-insurer. They insure the insurer,Goapps15 wrote:Lloyds of London? Now you are talking about my life! Re: New video board
Why would normal (for the area) construction practices require the services of LoL?

61% insurance. 39% re-insurance. You're right, rek.Rekdiver wrote:I've worked with Lloyds.....They are both insurer and reinsurer.

Re: New video board
If they do dynamite, probably no one will know it. Unless something is done terribly wrong, blasting isn't really conspicuous. There is such a small charge and so much dirt covered you could probably stand on top of the "blast" and be safe.bigdaddyg wrote:If they use dynamite please get the videos! That would be a great watch
Don't think you will hear any explosions or see any mushroom clouds coming from KBS

I'm sure rock was anticipated. Can't imagine drilling anywhere in the stadium area not having rock.

Re: New video board
I talked with the owner of the sign company installing the new video board (Davis Sign Company out of Winston-Salem) and he said drilling is almost complete and yes they did run into rock issues that delayed their install timeframe. Dynamite was never considered and there is equipment on hand to drill thru rock (very common in the mountains). Anyways, significant progress will occur in the next few weeks after the supports have been poured in concrete

As I said in a subsequent post, they are 61% an insurer and 31% re-insurer.Goapps15 wrote:I know that as I work with them every day.NewApp wrote:FWIW, Lloyds of London is not an insurer. Typo. As I posted in a previous entry, it's 69% to 31%.HighPointApp wrote:NewApp wrote:As I said in a subsequent post, they are 61% an insurer and 31% re-insurer.Goapps15 wrote:I know that as I work with them every day.NewApp wrote:FWIW, Lloyds of London is not an insurer. Re: New video board
I knew a Lloyds Partner. They can make a lot of money OR can be subject to a cash call. Risk opportunities are presented to the partners. Sometimes they take them directly from the insured, sometimes from the original insurer(i.e. Reinsurance) and sometimes they pass off their risk to a reinsurer. The partner I knew had to come up with $50k one time in 2002.

Sounds a bit like the charge backs I got when I sold commercial insurance just not nearly of that magnitude.Rekdiver wrote:I knew a Lloyds Partner.
