Street & Smith's
They have us predicted to finish 1st in the conference and projected for the Bahama's Bowl. They noted that 6 teams from the Sun Belt went to bowl games last season.
They had us ranking 6th in recruiting in the conference with not 5 or 4 star recruits in the conference. They have us with 8 three star recruits. Texas State and Louisiana-Monroe had 10 apiece, but they both had 24 recruits apiece to our 18.
They have us with 3 Offensive players for All-Sun Belt and 3 defensive as well as Rubin kicking all-conference.
They have Cajun Field as best game day atmosphere. Taylor Lamb was chosen as best running QB as well as best under pressure. Clifton Duck was judged as best interview

Especially one that has proven twice it can deliver 8,000-10,000 fans to a bowl game.

True, though if the team were polled, I bet they'd prefer that over another trip to Alabama.CVAPP wrote:No way the SBC Champ gets relegated to the effing Bahamas Bowl.

Re: Street & Smith's
I don't know what our players might think, but as a fan, the Bahamas Bowl is the lowest of low. High cost to attend, played in a sub-par venue on a day too close to December 25th..EastHallApp wrote:True, though if the team were polled, I bet they'd prefer that over another trip to Alabama.CVAPP wrote:No way the SBC Champ gets relegated to the effing Bahamas Bowl.
Re: Street & Smith's
They put Taylor Lamb on their cover. I don't see that with any other preseason magazine. Kudos to Street & Smith's! Glad to see that they're back.

I hear ya. I think it's kind of all or nothing - those who can afford it, if they wish, can shell out $$$ for a luxury trip to either spend Christmas or pre-Christmas in the Bahamas. The stadium probably isn't a huge part of the draw (and the Cramton Bowl isn't exactly state-of-the-art anyway). For the rest of us, we just won't go.
But the players don't have to worry about cost to attend, so I think we could all probably guess what they'd think.

Re: Street & Smith's
I dont even think the SunBelt is assigned the Bahamas Bowl this year.
"The fourth Bahamas Bowl will take place in Nassau, Bahamas on Friday, Dec. 22, 2017 at Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium between teams from Conference USA and the Mid-American Conference. The game will be televised nationally in the United States on ESPN."

Re: Street & Smith's
It's my understanding that the Sun Belt isn't involved this season. I'd like to see Charleston land this bowl once it folds. Makes zero sense for smaller programs to be assigned with an international bowl. Programs with 60k+ fans might make the Bahama Bowl a success, I just don't see how smaller programs can sustain this bowl game.bh2oson wrote:I dont even think the SunBelt is assigned the Bahamas Bowl this year.

I agree, moonshine. I could see App taking about 10,000 plus to Charleston and making it KBS South for a weekend. I think that the Citadel's stadium could be used unless they plan to build something else in Charleston.moonshine wrote:It's my understanding that the Sun Belt isn't involved this season. All that said, we know it really doesn't matter who is supposed to be playing when the time comes...moonshine wrote:It's my understanding that the Sun Belt isn't involved this season. Re: Street & Smith's
The Citadel will have to rebuild the east side (visitors) of their stadium before a bowl game is ever a possibility in Charleston. I hope their stadium is ready if and when the moratorium is lifted.
