I also hope Upshaw comes back with a vengeance and runs like a train.

Some CYA but the underlying message is that more and more of the college football world are starting to take App seriously when prepping to play us. That is the general trend and shows respect that we are earning.

I agree, I felt a respect from Miami last year that I personally have not felt from a P5 in my tenure as an App Fan. Many coaches respect our winning program, but I haven't felt true concern like I did last year with the coaches or Media. That is progress imo.

Nice article about our upward path in the FBS world. Also note Satt's comments about NY6 Bowl.

Coach Scott Satterfield said at the Sun Belt’s media day that “it takes a special year,” to reach a New Year’s bowl. “You’re going to have to win your nonconference games. We’ve got a tough schedule of nonconference games and then you’re going to have to run the table within the conference.”

At least they are thinking about it. It is clear that the team and coaches are thinking about continuing to build our program on a National Level.

Even though the description of App is brief the one line that is starting to stick across the country is.

"They’ve earned the respect of everyone in the nation. But with that respect comes the issue of never being overlooked."

https://dawnofthedawg.com/2017/07/29/ge ... ian-state/

This type of statement is starting to become common as I read more and more articles from a national press with this sentiment. It is clear many are seeing our consistent performance will pay off favorably down the road.

"They earned the reputation of being one of the best small school teams in America, and one day they’re going to be in a conference like the SEC, ACC or American."

I am somewhat concerned about the loss of Marcus. This is no slight against Moore or the other backs, it's just Marcus' patience and ability to slip through small creases our line created was amazing. I can't tell you the number of times it looked like we would loose yards and then, somehow, Marcus would gain 3,4 or 5 yards. He wasn't going to run away from everyone but he was extremely good fit for our stretch blocking scheme. I hope I'm wrong but I do worry we as a fan base minimize the loss of Marcus too much.

A running back is only as good as his O Line. I think Moore demonstrated his ability to find a crease.

I completely agree. Especially against BCS type teams he found ways to twist and fall forward or squirt through for an extra yard or two which was the difference in keeping us in good down and distance a lot of times. I don't think to this point Moore has been as effective when its crowded in the interior and holes aren't as large. Don't get me wrong, Moore is the reigning, defending conference player of the year so he is obviously a great player but in the opener I am interested to see how successful we are on the ground.

I think having Upshaw back will be helpful, and I fully expect Moore to be even better this year, but I think you made a great point about Marcus' play especially against the P5/BCS defenses we played.

The BCS no longer exists, nor did it refer to teams, it was a selection system for bowl match-ups. It was replaced by the College Football Playoff.

Are we gonna let the Gawja Dawgs give us a REALITY CHECK?

Or are we gonna shock the world with a sleeper can of vacuum packed mountain WHUPASS? What say you? Hope this isn't Miami version 2 or worse.

He does point out some truth.....for a team that is not loaded with skill players App can bring a scare ..... I believe Ga has skill at running back and returning defense ..... there offensive line has wholes ..... he'll, I don't care as long as App State fights for 4 quarters.

I am afraid we are in for getting totally demolished.....I don't see us being near as good as we were last year and I think Georgia is better than 15 rank. With Gilchrist and Law gone I don't see those shoes filled and we don't have the talent to put the heat on up front on defensive line to stop the two best RBs in the country and Eason is going to take his turns down field too. Our secondary is not as talented as last year neither.

I would LOVE to be proven WRONG!
