Gratifying to see us rated 30+ places above EZU in that one ranking. They shouldn't have fired Ruffin McNeil. It's bad luck to fire a former App coach. :)

I am a little surprised we are behind Wake.

We need to get consistently in the top 40 on these preseason rankings.

Maybe they are taking into account Wake had a double agent among their coaching staff part of last season :)

Yep and put a huge target on our backs for even the bottom feeders to key on.

That's exactly what I want for our program. I want us to be the team that all our opponents want to beat. If we are, then that means we are very successful.

As Coach Moore always said, be the best you can. I agree 89, a target on our back is a good indicator of success.

Don't care about preseason rankings (other than AP/coaches polls), but the idea that we should avoid getting too good so we won't have a "target on our backs" is just

Totally agree we WANT to be the hunted! Don't fear success.

See what I mean about mind reading? I agree with you, but I was typing on an iPhone and didn't have the capability to place a :) at the end of my post.

I do too, but as I told 89, I was typing on an iPhone and didn't have the capability of putting a :) at the end of my post.

I want the same thing as you, but as I told 89, I was typing on an iPhone and didn't have the capability of placing a :) at the end of the post. So the eye rolls from you were condescending and totally unnecessary. I've always wanted us to be the team that all 12 teams on our schedule were thinking that App was the team they wanted to beat most. Please don't try to mind read my posts because you've always taken them wrong. My fault for being careless and less articulate as well using a blame iPhone.
Now, Go Apps.

Just to clarify NewApp, what device were you using to type your earlier post? And did you consider using any sort of emoji, such as perhaps a :)?

I had the emoji functions disabled months ago. It's that I think they are overused by just about everybody and it's seeming trite and lazy. I'm still using an iPhone five for which my fingers are way too large. It takes me far longer to type anything accurately than anyone I know.

OK, here are Phil Steele's rankings: App St #33, Arky #47, Troy #49 .... These rankings are from Phil's Top 40 (actually top 56) paraphrasing Phil, these factor in his power rankings as well as teams schedule and how he thinks they will perform. In his "main " power ranking which is a compilation of 8 other power ratings, he is mostly concerned with overall talent and strength.... not schedule considerations. In that poll he goes to 130.....In that poll here are the SBC teams: Apps #62, Arky #78, Troy #82, ULL#99, NMSU#110, Idaho#113, SoAl#114, GASO#116, ULM#122, GaSt#125, CCU#129, TxSt#f130..... Few other notes from PS, in the top units (ranking to #56) Apps are in several of these: QB's #48, RB's #43, OL's #47, DB's #24....... Also his Top NON-Power 5 (we call Group5) he has us #2 behind USF. He also said that we will be favored in 11 of 12 games and if we were to beat UGA we would be the front runner for NY6 bowl.
