Phil Steele Preseason Magazine

Unread post by AtlantaMountaineer » Fri Jun 23, 2017 12:12 pm

Picked up the Phil Steele Preseason Mag today at Barnes and Noble here in Atlanta. WE are doomed! I can't recall Steele ever picking App to win anything. I could be wrong. But this year he picks App to win the Sunbelt and to be favored in 11 of our 12 regular season games. He also says App is a legitimate contender for the Group of 5 New Years Day bowl bid if they upset Georgia in the opener. App is followed by Ark State, Troy, Louisiana, USA, NMSU, Idaho, GS, ULM, GSU, TX State and CC. I would like nothing more than see App play in the Peach Bowl in the brand new Mercedes Benz Stadium.

Upon closer inspection he actually picks App and Arkansas State to tie for the Sun Belt Championship.

Nice
He just outlined a legitimate and possible path to the NY6 bowl.

The challenge has been posted.

Nice pub, but he's not exactly going way out on a limb with that observation.

If we beat Georgia in season opener I'm expecting us to be ranked and if we go 4-0 out the gate then for sure expecting it!

He picked us and Arkansas St. to win the conference last year also. He picked us both citing that are weren't playing each other last year.

It's fun to dream at this point but if we are end the season undefeated, you can be rest assured we should be no worst than top 15 in both polls - see Western Michigan from last season (ranked 12 and 15 respectively before bowl game vs. Wisc). I'd argue in this scenario that wins against Wake and UGA would be looked upon more favorably than WMU's wins against NW and Illinois.

GO 'NEERS!
