I don't like it and would like to be in top 50 but considering we were around 110-120 by most prognosticators just two years ago I have to feel that is significant progress on our FBS journey.
Now if we are landing around 30-35 by most preseason projections in two years from now I will continue to feel we are doing most everything right.

How about UGA and WF? I think that'll be a good start to a trend up.Rekdiver wrote:If we want to move up gotta beat some P5s

It seems every year, we finish around 40 and start the following year over 60.

Toledo has a legit NFL caliber QB. Both them and App are underrated in this.

I personally like a slow deliberate climb in national perception than a flash in the pan. Flashes get dismissed as flashes.

I agree that to get beyond that cycle we have to beat some teams ranked significantly higher than us which means some P5 teams.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote:It seems every year, we finish around 40 and start the following year over 60.
Beating Wake confirms we deserve to be at least 50. Losing to them shows we are not even 50.
Beating UGA proves we have raised the bar significantly into top 25 territory.
This also assumes we beat everybody else on our schedule with a stick. Folks should not under estimate the difference between winning games against lower G5 vs spanking them hard. The top 25 teams mostly rout lower FBS teams not just win. Case in point, Western Michigan rolled Akron 41-0 and we beat them 45-38 when we were on our way to routing them we let them back in game. WMU beat Toledo 55-35 and we beat them with late FG. We won both but didn't make anybody feel we were top 25 in the process. We lost to Troy one of the better teams in Belt. Couldn't finish them off. Some say style doesn't matter but it usually is related to how good you really are and definitely how you are perceived.

Way too low compared to where we finished and what we have returning.
