After 2 scrimmages anyone in the know, know how the 2 deep is shaping up? Any surprises?

I'll cover until Moose checks in ;-)

I haven't heard of any major surprises in terms of the 2-deep, though it sounds like a lot of the young guys are looking good. Sounds like a couple freshmen are pushing Tae Hayes for the starting CB spot, I guess that could be considered a surprise (though I don't). I also get the impression Hennigan is making a real push for a starting spot as well. Though I could see that being one of those things where a veteran gets the actual first series in Athens, but then Hennigan winds up playing most of the snaps.

I think true frosh McDaniel may be on the 2 deep already, not sure though. I've also heard good things about Noel Cook at LB who was a PWO. A lot of the defensive 2nd team will be RS FR and SO.

According to reports, UGA may be without the services of starting senior CB Malkom Parrish. Parrish has started the past 2 seasons racking up 91 tackles and 4 INT's. Sounds like senior safety Aaron Davis was taking reps with the CBs today. He played CB during his first two years on campus but moved exclusively to safety last season. He came into camp as the team's starting star/nickel defender. This may require the Dawgs to play a freshman if/when they go to a nickle package. Many UGA posters claim Parrish is one of their surest tacklers on the defense.

That's for sure. I want to see our guys be able to go up and make a play WITH heavy/tight coverage (i.e. defender's hands in WR's face, defender's hands closely contesting catch, with physical bumping against WR, etc.). Our receivers have to be physical and be able to literally wrestle catches away from defenders in some cases. Our WRs have to have excellent hands and body, arm and hand strength to win those battles.

Just FYI, that first battle/catch was true Fr on true Fr (83-Henry/34-Jolly).
