Re: Bowl bids
What would killing a mid level ACC team prove for a NY6 game when we got killed by a UGA team that when all is said and done will probably be a 3 loss team that might squeeze into the SEC title game... Giving them a likely 4th loss against a likely Alabama matchup. Our schedules and conference are weak compared to some other G5 programs. OOC doesn't get much better the next couple of years. We likely will have to go undefeated like Western Michigan did last year for a shot.

Based on today's performance, I'm not so sure that we belong in a NY6 game. Need to re-group and run the table. A few tough games ahead. GO APPS!!!

Re: Bowl bids
I have to think any talk of making a 1/1 Bowl are off the table, but frankly I thought that was a stretch anyway. It's a great dream but just not realistic....yet.

Re: Bowl bids
A bit of unsolicited advice: If you spend this season thinking about whether we're going to the Peach Bowl, it's very likely you'll be disappointed. Instead, try enjoying every game and seeing how many we can win.
Is it impossible that we could make the NY6? No. But we'd need so much help now - never mind taking care of our own business - that it's too remote to worry about IMO.

Re: Bowl bids
There is no amount of help we could get to put us in a NY6 bowl this year. Our preseason sos was 129 out of 130 and we laid an egg against the only ranked team we will play this year. Wake will be the best team we play the rest of the year and their probaly no better than 50/50 to make a bowl game.

Man, I hate even debating this because it's so far away but...
What if all the other G5 champions have at least three losses? Last year we were one last-minute Ohio drive in the MAC championship game from exactly that happening. And what if we're 11-1 with a win over an ACC team and our one loss to UGA?
Again, unlikely enough that I wouldn't spend any time worrying about it right now. But not impossible.

Re: Bowl bids
How in the world is our SOS that low? I mean I know we have a weak conference but geez we played GA and Wake and there has to be some teams in our conference with worse schedules

Re: Bowl bids
No one in the G5 has been very impressive thus far. There was only been one G5 win over a P5, Colorado St that beat a bad Oregon St team. CSU lost by 14 @ Colorado yesterday.
The odds on G5 favorite for the peach bowl South Florida hasn't had a great start.
If we go 11-1 and do so soundly we'll be in the discussion, but probably 3rd or 4th on the list.
Week 2 games of interest:
Miami @ Ark St
Cincy @ Michigan
Houston @ Arizona
Boise St @ Wash St

Re: Bowl bids
and additionally, Georgia Southern is coming off a terrible year. If GS improves (which I think they will), it will help our SOS. Also, Coastal's win against UMass will help a little but they need to exceed expectations. It doesn't help that Georgia State lost to Tennessee State (FCS) or that Texas State continues to strugle (barely beating Houston Baptist - FCS).Seattleapp wrote: ↑Sun Sep 03, 2017 5:08 pmIt's because we don't play Troy, Arkansas State or South Alabama.

Re: Bowl bids
A 21 point loss and scoring 10 points on a major SEC team is not laying an egg in my opinion.postalapp90 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 03, 2017 1:21 pmThere is no amount of help we could get to put us in a NY6 bowl this year. Re: Bowl bids
Even if we run the table we have no business thinking we can compete against the competition we'd face in a Peach bowl matchup. Think UGA game result again with all things being equal by the time 1/1 rolls around. Heck, it might even be UGA in that Peach bowl after they lose to Bama in SEC title game...

Re: Bowl bids
why does it matter? your trying to guess something that is over 3 months away! From what I saw last Saturday and expect to see this, we should wish the Turkey Bowl was still around!
